The difficulty of finding interesting and profitable instruction for our children and servants on Sabbath Evenings, is so constant and urgent, that, although a valuable weekly periodical is now issuing from the press, I venture to hope this humble contribution will not be unacceptable to Christian parents and teachers. Sketches of these papers were first used by me in various schools and Bible classes ; and having found the keen interest which they awakened in some young persons, I filled up the outline, and they were published in “ the Churchman's Penny Magazine." I am now encouraged by many friends to offer them in a more permanent form.
