Pfalm cxxix. De profundis.

UT of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord:
Lord, hear my voice.

Let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my fupplication. If thou, O Lord, wilt observe iniquities: Lord, who shall endure it?

For with thee there is merciful forgiveness, and because of thy law I have waited for thee, O Lord.

My foul hath relied on his word: my foul hath hoped in the Lord.

From the morning-watch even until night, let Ifrael hope in the Lord.

For with the Lord there is mercy: and with him there is plenteous redemption.

And he shall redeem Ifrael from all its iniquities.
Eternal reft give to them, O Lord.

And may perpetual light shine upon them.

Let us pray.

GOD, the giver of pardon and lover of the falvation of mankind, we beseech thy clemency: grant that the members of this congregation, that our relations, and benefactors, who have departed this life, may by the interceffion of the bleffed Virgin Mary and of all thy faints, come to the fellowship of eternal happiness.

O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the fouls of thy fervants departed the remiffion of all their fins, that through pious fupplications, they may obtain the pardon which they have always defired; through Jefus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Almighty and eternal God, grant us an increase of Faith, Hope, and Charity; and, that we may deserve to obtain what

thou haft promised, make us to love what thou haft commanded; through Jefus Chrift our Lord.

An Act of Faith.

Amen.

FIRMLY believe that there is only one God, that he is my first beginning and my last end, and that in God there are three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghoft; that the Son took to himself the nature of man, and died upon a cross for the falvation of all mankind; I believe that God will reward the good in heaven, and punish the wicked in hell: and I believe thefe, and all the other facred truths, which the Catholic Church believes and teaches, because they have been revealed by God, who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

C. Grant, O God, that we may humbly receive and firmly hold fast all those truths, which thou hast revealed, and which thy church has proposed to our belief.

An Act of Hope.

GOD, relying upon thy goodness, power, and promises, I hope to receive pardon for my fins, and to obtain life everlasting, through the merits of Jefus Chrift, my only Redeemer.

C. This hope thus founded on thy mercy, thy power, and thy promises, ftill more, O God, confirm and strengthen in us. An Act of Charity.

Gean and love, the above all things, with my whole heart and foul, because thou art infinitely good and art deferving of all love; I alfo love my neighbour as myself, for the love of thee: I forgive all who have injured me, and I afk pardon of all whom I have injured.

C. Thus only, O God, can we fatisfy our duty of loving thee above all things, and our neighbour as ourselves.

An Act of Contrition.

GOD, I abhor and detest all my fins, and I am heartily forry for them, not merely for the fear of punishment, or for the hope of reward, but chiefly because by finning I have offended thee, who art infinitely good, and whom I love

above all things. I firmly purpose, by the affiftance of thy divine grace, to avoid all occafions of fin, and never more to break thy commandments.

C. Wherefore, O God, we come before thee this day, to beg pardon for all our past tranfgreffions, and to implore thine affiftance for the time to come.

ND now, O God, calling to mind with the greatest

gratitude the bleffed paffion and death of thy Son Chrift our Lord, as alfo his refurrection from the dead, and his glorious afcenfion into heaven, we prepare to offer to thy divine Majefty a pure, a holy, and a spotless victim; for fo thou haft ordained; the holy bread of eternal life and the chalice of our falvation. Look down therefore upon them, O Lord, with a propitious and ferene countenance, and accept them, as thou waft pleased to accept the offerings of thy righteous fervant Abel, and the facrifice of our father Abraham, and that which thy high priest Melchifedech offered unto thee, a holy facrifice, a fpotless victim. Amen.
