LORD, for ever at Thy side

Let my place and portion be;
Strip me of the robe of pride,
Clothe me with humility.

2 Meekly may my soul receive,
All Thy Spirit hath revealed;
Thou hast spoken; I believe,
Though the oracle be sealed.

3 Humble as a little child,

Weaned from the mother's breast,
By no subtleties beguiled,
On Thy faithful word I rest.

4 Israel now and evermore,

In the Lord Jehovah trust!
Him, in all His ways, adore,
Wise, and wonderful, and just.

TAKE my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise;
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

2 Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee;
Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

3 Take my will, and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine;
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne;
Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store ;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

LOVE of Jesus, all divine,
Fill this longing heart of mine,
Ceaseless struggling after life,
Weary with the endless strife.
Saviour, Jesus, lend Thine aid,
Lift Thou up my fainting head;
Lead me to my long-sought rest,
Pillowed on Thy loving breast.

2 Thou alone my trust shalt be,
Thou alone canst comfort me;
Only, Jesus, let Thy grace
Be my shield and hiding-place;
Let me know Thy saving power
In temptation's fiercest hour:
Then, my Saviour, at Thy side
Let me evermore abide.

7s. 81,

3 Thou has wrought this fond desire,
Kindled here this sacred fire,
Weaned my heart from all below,
Thee, and Thee alone to know.
Thou who hast inspired the cry,
Thou alone canst satisfy:
Love of Jesus all divine,
Fill this longing heart of mine.

JESUS, I my cross have taken,

All to leave, and follow Thee; Destitute, despised, forsaken,

8s, 7s. 81.

Thou, from hence, my all shalt be. Perish every fond ambition,

All I've sought, and hoped, and known, Yet how rich is my condition !

God and heav'n are still my own.

2 Let the world despise and leave me ;
They have left my Saviour, too;
Human hearts and looks deceive me :
Thou art not, like them, untrue;
And while Thou shalt smile upon me,
God of wisdom, love, and might,
Foes may hate, and friends may shun me,
Show Thy face and all is bright.

3 Go then, earthly fame and treasure!
Come disaster, scorn and pain!
In Thy service, pain is pleasure;
With Thy favor, loss is gain.
I have called Thee Abba, Father;
I have stayed my heart on Thee:
Storms may howl, and clouds may gather,
All must work for good to me.

4 Man may trouble and distress me,

'T will but drive me to Thy breast;
Life with trials hard may press me,
Heaven will bring me sweeter rest.
Oh, 't is not in grief to harm me,
While Thy love is left to me;
Oh, 't were not in joy to charm me,
Were that joy unmixed with Thee.
5 Take, my soul, thy full salvation;
Rise o'er sin, and fear, and care;
Joy to find, in every station,
Something still to do or bear.

Think what Spirit dwells within thee,
What a Father's smile is thine,
What a Saviour died to win thee:

Child of heaven, shouldst thou repine?

6 Haste, then, on from grace to glory,
Armed by faith, and winged by prayer;
Heaven's eternal day's before thee,
God's own hand shall guide thee there.
Soon shall close thy earthly mission,
Swift shall pass thy pilgrim days,
Hope soon change to glad fruition,
Faith to sight, and prayer to praise.

I AM trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
Trusting only Thee!

Trusting Thee for full salvation,
Great and free.

2 I am trusting Thee for pardon,
At Thy feet I bow;

For Thy grace and tender mercy,
Trusting now.

3 I am trusting Thee for cleansing
In the crimson flood;

Trusting Thee to make me holy
By Thy blood.

4 I am trusting Thee to guide me;
Thou alone shalt lead,

Every day and hour supplying
All my need.

5 I am trusting Thee for power,

Thine can never fail ;

8,5,8,3.

Words which Thou Thyself shalt give me Must prevail.

6 I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus;
Never let me fall;

I am trusting Thee for ever,
And for all.

8,8,8,6.

GOD of my life, Thy boundless grace
Chose, pardoned, and adopted me;
My rest, my home, my dwelling-place ;
Father, I come to Thee.

2 Jesus, my hope, my rock, my shield,
Whose precious blood was shed for me,
Into Thy hands my soul I yield:
Saviour, I come to Thee.

3 Spirit of glory and of God,

Long hast Thou deigned my guide to be ;
Now be Thy comfort sweet bestowed:
My God, I come to Thee.

4 I come to join that countless host
Who praise Thy name unceasingly;
Blest Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
My God, I come to Thee.

458

THY life was giv'n for me,
Thy blood, O Lord, was shed,
That I might ransom'd be,

And quickened from the dead.
Thy life was giv'n for me:
What have I giv'n for Thee?

2 Long years were spent for me
In weariness and woe,

C. Elliott.
