the reign over Judah, after the destruction of the second temple," Until a time and times and the dividing of time." Daniel, vii. 25.

I also learn that in Jeremiah, iii. 14. the. following text is even explained, "Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion," &c. That one of a city and two of a family is meant to be the pupils of the son of Mary; but here they labour under a great mistake, for this was only said and meant in reference to the children of Israel, those which were remaining after the terrible massacre they had sustained since the time of destruction. Then follows, 16. "And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD," &c.-So it is also found in Isaiah, lxv. 6. "Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom:" (the word recompense stands twice) 7. " Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together," (this is what has been said above: "And on the day that I shall visit them," &c.) 8. 9." Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all. And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine. elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there."

וממשלתו על יהודה ניתן לו אחר חורבן השני על זמן ועדן כנראה לדניץ ז' כה' וכו' :

גם שמעתי אומרים על ירמיה" ג' יד' שנאמר שובו בנים שובבים נאם ה' כי אנכי בעלתי בכם ולקחתי אתכם אחד מעיר ושנים ממשפחה והבאתי אתכם ציון וכו' המה מפרשים אותן

יחדו וכו' : ח' כה אמר ה' כאשר מצא התירוש באשכול ואמר. אל תשחיתיהו כי ברכה בו כן אעשה למען עבדי לבלתי השחית הכל והוצאתי מיעקב זרע ומיהודה יורש הרי וירשוה בחירי ועבדי ישכנו שמה וכו :

lustre during the time that we are distributed under her powers, which Daniel declared with the following text, Dan. vii. 25. "Until a time and times and the dividing of time." And how can any one believe that Daniel appointed the seventy weeks for the coming of the Messiah? when every person must perceive his gross error in not crediting his (Daniel's) words, which are as plain as the sun at noon. The same is

also unanimously proved by all the Prophets, and beyond all doubt by Daniel, who declares the destruction of Edom before the arrival of the Messiah.

In particular is the prophecy of Joel, iii. 19. to be considered, where he says, "Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land." And was there more blood of Judah shed in Edom, than after the destruction of the second temple? And as Joel, so prophecied Obadiah, i. 9." And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter." 10. "For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever." 21. "And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's."

Here do we in reality see, that the arrival of the Messiah was not at the time of the second temple, because the fall of Edom shall be previous to the arrival of the Messiah, and this refers to
