Holy and almighty Lord ! 2 As fallen creatures could not bear Thou who, as the great Creator, The awful voice of God to hear, By all creatures art ador'd ; By men the Spirit of the Lord Source of universal nature ! Reveald God's holy cov'nant word. And to man, redeem'd by Jesus' blood, Gracious God! :||: 3 This sacred word exposeth sin, 2 Thanks and praise, :ll: Convinceth us that we're unclean ; Lord our God, be ever thine, Points out the wretched, fallen state That thy word to us is given, Of all mankind, both small and great. Teaching us, with pow'r divine, 4 It also shews God's boundless grace That the Lord of earth and heaven, Toward the fallen human race, Everlasting life for us to gain, Eternal life to ev'ry one Once was slain. :/: Who turns to Jesus Christ his Son. 3 Day nor night :11: Never let us hold our peace; 5 This gospel cheers the poor in heart, In his blood-bought congregation And heav'nly riches doth impart; Never shall his praises cease; Sets forth tħe myst'ry of the cross, God, as man, made an oblation, And that Christ's blood aton'd for us: Suffer'd, bled & dy'd, my soul for thee, 6 It gathers God's elected flock, Joyful be! :: Grounds them on Jesus Christ the rock, 4 Lord our God, :11: Serves to instruct us and reprove, May thy precious, saving word, Confirms our hope, inflames our love; Till our race is here completed, Light unto our path afford ! 7 Preserves believers in the faith And, when in thy presence seated, Of Christ and his atoning death; We to thee will render, for thy grace, Prompts us to do God's holy will, Ceaseless praise. :Il: And leads us safe to Salem's hill. 2.* T. 22. 8 Receiveour cordial thanks, O Lord, (cease, For granting us thy holy word; GOD's holy word, which ne'er shall O may we thereby guided be, Proclaimeth pardon, grace and peace; Till wein heav'n shall dwell with thee! Be lost and vanish in the wind; Here I can fix my hopé secure; This is thy word, and must endure. 6.* T. 22. LORD Jesus, with thy children stay Prompts our hearts to true devotion. Till dawn of thy eternal day; And let thy glorious gospel light, 3 Holy Ghost, eternal God, Till then, dispel the gloom of night. 2 In these degen’rate evil days 3 Thy sacred word is all our boast; In this thy church can boldly trust : 4 Lord, from such teachers us preserve Who from the holy scriptures swerve, And by false doctrines would deceive The truth to man, instruct each heart! Of the Fall and Corruption of Man, and his Redemption by Christ. T, 132. Perverse, polluted and unclean : 4 Love! my Life, and my Salvation, Then Jesus came to set us free, Light and Truth, eternal Word! And for our guilt to shed his blood; Thou alone dost consolation To my sinking soul afford. Love almighty, &c. 2 Our Lord now calleth constantly: 5 Love! thy yoke I gladly carry, “Come, sinners,come to me and live; It is easy, gentle, light; Surrender ye yourselves to me, Grant that I may ne'er be weary, Repenting sinners I receive : Thee to serve with all my might. My life I freely gave for you ; Sacred Love, &c. Now al your wants I will supply, Yea, pardon, rest, and life bestow; 6 Love! who interced'st in heaven O turn to me, why will For my soul when I'm opprest, die po ye Bear'st my worthless name engraven 3 Sinners, attend to Jesus' voice; Upon thy high-priestly breast. 7 Love! thou me wilt raise to glory He fills the hungry soul with good, From the grave, the bed of dust, The thirsty heart may take its fill; And as conqu’ror place before thee Crown'd with bliss among the just. He guides us in the narrow road That leads to Salem's blessed hill. Sacred Love! I long to be Thine to all eternity. 4 Ah! come Lord Jesus, hear our pray'r Thou worthy Son of God most high! T. 590. We humbly ask; our souls prepare, THE true good Shepherd, God's own That we nay to thy mercy fly; From all eternity, [Son That we may all believe on thee, Urg'd by his love, exchang'd his throne And on thy flesh and blood may feed, For human misery; True members of thy body be, His wand'ring sheep gone far astray For ever join'd to thee our Head. He sought with pungent pain, And did for all a ransom pay To bring them home again. Art thou, my sin-sick soul; Though I fell, yet thou hast sent me His life it hath the Shepherd cost Full redemption from above; To save and make thee whole; Sacred Love, I long to be Now hear his voice with gratitude, Thine to all eternity.
