The Hymn, Veni Creator Spiritus, &c. as on
Whitfunday, or this following.

Veni Sancte Spiritus.

HINE, heavenly dove, defcend and dwell Within our breafts benighted cell; And thence the fhades of fin expel : Defcend, thou Father of the poor; Of gifts thou unexhausted ftore; Thy heavenly light our hearts implore,

Thou only comfort of our breast, The happy foul's delightful gueft, And fweet refreshment of the bleft.

In thee, when tir'd we find repofe; In heat a breeze that gently blows. And comfort in excess of woes.

O fweetest flame thy beams impart, And penetrate our inmoft heart. With light and warmth in every part.

In man, without thy Sovereign light,
But dreams and fictions haunt his fight,
And nought remains but fun and night.
Wash every stain of fin away;

With grace our fcorching fires allay:
And heal our mafs of wounded clay.

Our ftubborn hearts with mildnets bend, Where love decays thy warmth extend; And fhew loft fheep their journey's end. Make all thy feven-fold fountains flow On those that truft in thee below: And in thofe ftreams thy felf bestow. Thyfelf the crown of all our pain,

Our happy end and everlafting gain. Amen. V. Send forth thy fpirit, and they shall be created.

R. And thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

V. Lord, hear my prayer,

R. And let my cry come to thee.
