death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. John xiv. 13, 14. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. Matt. xxvi. 39. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt. (Matt. vi. 6, 7. See above.) Luke xi. 9, 10. And I say unto you, ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Psal. cxlv. 18, 19. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. Psal. lxv. 2. O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Psal. Ixi. 8. Trust in him at all times, ye people; pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Matt. vi. 33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Phil. iv. 6. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known unto God. Rev. iv. 11. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive, glory and honour, and power; for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

SECTION VI.

Matt. vi. 9. After this manner therefore pray ye, Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Luke xi. 2. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name: Thy kingdom come: thy will be done as in heaven so in earth. 2 Kings xix. 15. And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord,

and said, O Lord God of Israel, which dwelleth between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. Deut. xxx. 6. Do ye thus requite the Lord? O foolish people and unwise! is not he thy Father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee and established thee? Isai. lxiii. 15, 16. Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies towards me? are they restrained? Doubtless thou art our Father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our Father, our Redeemer; thy name is from everlasting. Luke xi. 11, 12, 13. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a Father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish will he give him a serpent? or if he ask an egg will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him. Rom. viii. 15. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again, to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. John iv. 23. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Psal. ciii. 13. Like as a Father pitieth bis children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. John xv. 16. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whathe may give it soever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, you. 2 Cor. vi. 18. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Ephes. iv. 6. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Gal. iii. 26. all the children of God, by faith in Christ Jesus. 17. And if children, then heirs; keirs of God and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Ephes. v. 1. Be ye therefore

followers of God as dear children. 1 Pet. iii. 8. Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another; love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. Psal. cxxiii. 1. Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Lam. iii. 41. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God. (Eccles. v. 1, 2. See above.) Neh.i. 4, 5. And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven, and said, I be seech thee O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments. Col. iii. 1, 2. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth. Matt. vi. 20, 21. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Phil. i. 23. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is far better.

SECTION VII.

That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth. Psalm xcix. 3. Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy. Phil. ii. 9, 10. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Psal. cxi. 9. He sent re

demption unto his people; he hath commanded his covenant for ever; holy and reverend is his name. 1 Chron. xvi. 29. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering and come before him; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Ezek. xxx. 25. Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name. 2 Thess. iii. 1. Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you. 2 Cor. ii. 14, 15. Now thanks be to God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish. Ephes. i. 17, 18. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. Psal. Ixxiv. 18. Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O Lord, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name. 1 Tim. vi. 1. Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. Phil. i. 9. 11. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in all knowledge and in all judgment; being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

SECTION VIII,

Matt. vi. 10. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, in earth as it is heaven. Luke xi. 2. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name: Thy kingdom come: Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Ps. lxviii. 18. Thou hast

ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive, thou hast received gifts for men, yea for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them. Rev. xii. 10, 11. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God, day and night. 2 Thess. iii. 1. Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you. Rom. xi. 25, 26. For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in and so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. Ephes. vi. 10—13. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take upon you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 2 Thess. ii. 16, 17. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. 2 Thess. i. 11, 12. Wherefore we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith and power. That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Matt. vii. 21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
