a As new-born Babes, defire the

fincere Milk of the Word; that By Knowledge ye may grow thereby.

b Be ye not unwife, but understanding what the Will of the Lord is; that ye may be ready always to give an Anfwer, to every Man that afketh you a Reason of the Hope that is in you.

c Take faft hold of Inftruction; attend to the Words of Wisdom; keep them in the midst of thine Heart: Then fhalt thou understand Righteousness, and Judgment, and Equity; yea every good Path.

Apply thine Heart to know, and to fearch, and to feek out Wisdom, and the Reason of Things; and to know the Wickedness of Folly, even of Foolishness, and Madness: So fhalt thou behave thy felf wifely in all thy Ways.

e Enquire, I pray thee, of the former Age, and prepare thy felf to the Search of their Fathers: Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter Words out of their Heart?

f Acquaint now thy felf with the Almighty: then fhalt thou have thy Delight in him; and the Light fhall fhine upon thy Ways.

g The Works of the Lord are great, fought out of all them that have Pleasure therein.

h Be wife unto that which is good, and fimple concerning evil: Be ye wife as Serpents, and harmless as Doves.

But, the Wisdom of this World cometh to nought.

a They are wife to do Evil; but to do Good they have no Knowledge. Lo! they have rejected the Word of the Lord; and what Wisdom is in them?

Meditation. b Take heed unto thy felf, and unto thy Doctrine; continue in them; meditate upon these things; give thy felf wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear unto

all.

c Confider thy Ways: ponder the Path of thy Feet; and let all thy Ways be established.

d We ought to give earneft heed to the things which we have heard; left at any time we fhould let them flip.

e Remember now thy Creator in the Days of thy Youth; while the evil Day comes not, nor the Years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

Know, this Day, and confider it in thine Heart, that the Lord he is God. Stand ftill, and regard the wondrous Works of God, and the Operations of his Hands: and wifely confider of his doing.

Look unto the Heavens, and fee, and behold the Clouds, which are higher than thou. Lift up thine Eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things.

h Remember the marvellous Works which the Lord hath done, his Wonders, and the Judgments

of his Mouth; meditate alfo on all his Works, and talk of his doing.

a Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his Commandments, and his Judgments, and his Statutes. Confider in thine Heart, that he remembers all thy Wickednefs.

b Take heed to thy felf, and keep thy Soul diligently; left thou forget the Covenant of the Lord thy God; and left it depart from thy Heart all the Days of thy Life.

c The Book of the Law, which the Lord hath given thee, fhall not depart out of thy Mouth; but thou fhalt meditate therein Day and Night; that thou mayeft obferve to do according to all that is written therein.

Wherewith fhall a young Man cleanse his Way? By taking heed thereto, according to the Word of God.

e When I thought on my Ways, I turned my Feet unto thy Teftimonies; I made hafte, and delayed not to keep thy Commandments.

f Thy Word, O Lord, have I hid in my Heart, that I might not fin against thee. I will meditate in thy Precepts, and have respect unto thy Ways; I will delight my felf in thy Statutes; I will not forget thy Word. Thy Teftimonies alfo fhall be my Delight, and my Counsellors. Thy Commandments shall be ever with me.

g Be mindful of the Words which were fpoken before by the Holy Prophets, and of the
