Nachdem nun das gesammte Material gesammelt und geordnet vorliegt, ist es meine Aufgabe, aus demselben den Stand der Entwicklung der Wortstellung im 8. und 9. Jahrh. kennen zu lernen, vielleicht auch einiges für die Ursachen dieser Entwicklung beizubringen. Ich halte jedoch, wie schon erwähnt, zu diesem Zwecke eine statistische Anführung aller Fälle für notwendig, und hoffe, dass dieser Grund die breite Raumentfaltung des Materials rechtfertigen wird.

Es ist nun eine bekannte Tatsache, dass unsere jetzige WStllg. im NS. ursprünglich identisch war mit der des HS.; natürlich, weil es ursprünglich überhaupt keine NS. sondern nur HS. gab, und diese wahrscheinlich unsere WStllg. des HS. hatten (vgl. darüber S. 102). Erst mit der Entstehung solcher früher schon logisch untergeordneter, nunmehr auch äusserlich als solche documentirter Sätze konnte eine WStllg. des NS. Platz greifen. Warum sie in Anwendung kam, ist eine Frage für sich, die später zur Sprache kommen wird. Zuerst beschäftigt mich die Frage über den Höhestand der Entwicklung einer eigenen WStllg. des NS. im 8. und 9. Jahrh. Vorausgreifend bemerke ich, dass dieselbe schon ziemlich stark vorgeschritten ist.
