was, to the great jubilee and exultation of the whole court of heaven, crowned by her Son with the brightest diadem of glory, and how all the saints rejoice with her in bliss.

Our Father, &c., once. Hail Mary, &c., ten times. Glory be to the Father, &c., once.

Let us pray.

GLORIOUS, Queen of all the heavenly citizens, we beseech thee, accept this Rosary, which as a crown of roses we offer at thy feet; and grant, most gracious Lady, that, by thine intercession, our souls may be inflamed with so ardent a desire of seeing thee so gloriously crowned, that it may never die in us, until it shall be changed into the happy fruition of thy blessed sight. Amen.

THE SALVE REGINA.

HAIL, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Let us pray.

GOD, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, hath purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that, meditating upon these mysteries, in the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph,

SPOUSE OF THE VIRGIN MARY, AND PATRON OF THE CHURCH.*

The Holy Father, Leo XIII., in an audience given to the secretary of the Sacred Congregation of Indulgences, 18th July 1885, granted an Indulgence of 300 days, to be gained once a day, and applicable to the souls in purgatory, to all the faithful of both sexes who shall devoutly recite the above prayer with a contrite heart.

Holy Family,-and hence chosen by the Vicar of Christ to be the heavenly patron and protector of the Church founded by Jesus Christ,-with the greatest confidence I now implore thy powerful assistance for the whole Church militant. Protect in a special manner, with thy truly paternal love, the Sovereign Pontiff, and all the bishops and priests who are in union with the See of Peter. Be the defender of all who are labouring for souls amid the troubles and tribulations of this life, and make all the peoples of the earth docile and submissive to the Church, which is the necessary means of salvation for all.

Deign also, O dearest St. Joseph, to accept the consecration which Í make of myself to thee. I consecrate myself entirely to thee, that thou mayest always be my father, my protector, and my guide in the way of salvation. Obtain for me a great purity of heart and a fervent love of the interior life. After thine example may I do all mine actions for the greater glory of God, in union with the Divine Heart of Jesus, with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and with thee. And finally do thou pray for me, that I may share in the peace Amen. and joy of thy holy death.
