542.

The peace which God alone reveals,

And by his word of grace imparts, Which only the believer feels,

Direct, and keep, and cheer our hearts. And may the holy Three in One,

The Father, Word, and Comforter, Pour an abundant blessing down

On ev'ry soul assembled here.

543.
To God, the mighty Lord,

Your joyful thanks repeat;
To him due praise afford,
As good as he is great.
For God does

prove
Our constant Friend;
His boundless love

Shall never end.

He does the food supply

On which all creatures live:
To God, who reigns on high,
Eternal praises give.
For God will prove

Our constant Friend ;
His boundless love

Shall never end.

Upon the seed now sown

Thy blessing, Lord, bestow;
The pow'r is thine alone

To make it spring and grow:
Do thou the gracious harvest raise,
And thou alone shalt have the praise.

Why should I doubt his love at last,

With anxious thoughts perplext?
Who sav'd me in the troubles past,

Will save me in the next:
Will save, till at my latest hour,

With more than conquest blest,
I soar beyond temptation's pow'r

To my Redeemer's breast.

546. Why was I made to hear thy voice,

And enter while there's room; When thousands make a wretched choice

And rather starvė than come? Twas the same love that made the feast

That sweetly drew us in; Jlse we had still refus'd to taste,

And perish'd in our sin.

547.
We thank thee, Lord, for this our food,.
But most of all for Jesu's blood;
May manna to our souls be giv'n,
The bread of life sent down from heav'n.

548.
What creatures beside are favour'd like us?
Forgiv'n, supplied, and banqueted thus,
By God, our good Father, who gave us 'his

Son,
And sent him to gather his children in one.
Salvation's of God, the fruit of free grace,
Upon us bestow'd before the world was,
God from everlasting be blest; and again
Blest to everlasting; Amen and Amen!

549.
WELCOME and precious to my soul,

Are these sweet days of love;
But what a sabbath shall I keep,

When I shall rest above!
I come, I wait, I hear, I pray;

Thy footsteps, Lord, I trace:
I sing to think this is the way

To my dear Saviour's face.
These are my preparation-days;
And when my soul is drest,

These sabbaths shall deliver me

To my eternal rest.

550. With his long travel faint, opprest, The weary pilgrim sighs for rest; The mariner, when billows roar, With longing heart desires the shore. Thus when temptation's waves arise, Struggling, half sunk, I cast mine eyes, With eager looks, to that blest shore Where storms and tempests rage no more. Leave me not, Saviour, nor forsake, My soul to thy dear bosom take: When safe to that fair haven come, All hail sweet rest and happy home.

551.
We seek a rest beyond the skies,

In everlasting day;
Thro’ floods and flames the passage lies,

But Jesus guards the way:
The swelling food, and raging fame,

Hear and obey his word;
Then let us triumph in his name,

Our Saviour is the Lord.

552. YE pris'ners of hope, Who bitterly grieve,

To Jesus look up,

And dare to believe:
Declare the condition

And state you are in,
And Christ, the Physician,

Will cure you of sin.
None will I cast out

Who come, saith the Lord :
Then why should you

doubt ?
Lay hold of his word !
Ye mourners in Sion,

Be bold to believe;
For ever rely on

Your Saviour, and live.

553 Zion, awake, arise, arise,

Thy sun in its meridian stands;
The clouds disperse, each shadow flies;

Thou’rt call'd to leave thy native lands. Get fresh supplies of grace each day,

Stand ready for the midnight call: Let nothing here engage thy stay,

Let Jesus be thy all in all.

554. Take my poor heart, just as it is,

up therein thy throne; So shall I love thee above all,

And live to thee alone.
