15 Then the officers of the children of Ifracl came, and cried unto Pharaoh, faying, Wherefore dealeft thou thus with thy fervants?

16 There is no ftraw given unto thy fervants, and they fay to us, make brick; and behold, thy fervants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.

17 But he faid, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye fay, let us go, and do facrifice to the LORD.

18 Go therefore now and work for there fhall no ftraw be given you, yet fhall ye deliver the tale of bricks.

19 And the officers of the children of If rael did fee that they were in evil cafe, after it was faid, Ye fhall not minifh ought from your bricks of your daily task.

20 And they met Mofes and Aaron, who flood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh.

21 And they faid unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; becaufe you have made our favour to be abhored in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his fervants, to put a fword in their hands to flay us.

22 And Mofes returned unto the LORD, and faid, LORD, wherefore haft thou o evil intreated this people? Why is it that thou haft fent me?

23 For fince I came to Pharaoh to fpeak in thy Name, he hath done evil to this people; neither haft thou delivered thy people at all. CHAP. VI. 1 God reneweth his promife by his Name JEHOVAH. 14 The genealogy of Reuben, 15 of Simeon, 16 of Levi.

fhalt thou fee what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a ftrong hand fhall he let them go, and with a frong hand fhall be drive them out of his land.

2 And God (pake nnto Mofes, and faid unto him, I am the LORD.

And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Ifaac, and unto Jacob, by the Name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH, was not known to them.

4 And I have alfo eftablished my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.

5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Ifrael,whom the Egyptians keep in bondage: and I have remembred my covenant.

6 Wherefore fay unto the children of Ifrael, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, & I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a ftretched-out arm, and with great judgements.

7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God and ye thali know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

13 And the LORD spake unto Mofes, and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Ifrael and unto Pharaoh King of Egypt, to bring the children of Ifrael out of the land of Egypt.

14 Thefe be the heads of their fathers houfes: The fons of Reuben, the firft-born of Ifrael: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi: thefe be the families of Reuben.

15 And the fons of Simeon, Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, & Zohar,and Shaul the fon of a Canaanitifh woman; there are the families of Simeon.

v6 ག And thefe are the names of the fons of Levi, according to their generations: Gerfhon, and Kohath, and Merari: And the years of the life of Levi were an bundred thirty and leven years.

17 The fons of Gerfhon; Libni and Shimi, according to their families.

18 And the fons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron and Uzziel; and the years of the life of Kohath, were an hundred thirty and three years.

19 And the fons of Merari ; Mahali, and Muthi: thefe are the families of Levi, ac

20 And Amram took him Jochebed his fathers fifter to wife and the bare him Aaron and Mofes and the years of the life of Amram, were an hundred and thirty and feven years.

21 And the, fons of Izhar; Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri.

22 And the fons of Uzziel; Mihael, and Elzaphan, and Zithri.

23 And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Aminadab, üfter of Nafhon, to wife; and the bare him Nadab and Abilu, Eleazer and Ithamar.

24 And the fons ef. Korah; Affir, and Elkanah, and Abiafaph; there are the families of the Korbites.

25 And Eleazar Aarons fon took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and the bare him Phinehas: there are the heads of the fathers of the Levites, according to their families.

26 These are that Aaron and Mofes, to whom the LORD faid, Bring out the children of Ifrael from the land of Egypt, according to their armies.

A have made thee a God to Pharaoh, &

Aaron thy brother fhall be thy Prophet. 32 Thou shalt fpake all that I command thee and Aaron thy brother shall peak unto Pharaoh, that he fend the children of Ifrael out of his land. NGIE OS

3 And I will harden Pharaohs heart and multiply my figns and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

4 But Pharaoh fhall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Ifracl, out of the land of Egypt, by great judgments..

And the Eyptians fhall know that I am the LORD, when 1 ftretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the chil dren of Ifrael from among them.

6 And Mofes and Aaron did as the LORD Commanded them, fodid they.

7 And Mofes was four core years old, and Aaron four core and three years old, when they 1pake unto Pharaoh."

8¶ And the LORD fpake unto Mofes and unto Aaron, faying,

9 When Pharaoh fhall fpeak unto you, faying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou fhall fay unto Aaron, Take thy rod and caft it before Pharaoh, and it fhall become a ferpent

had commanded, and Aaron caft down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his fervants, and it became a ferpent

TI Then Pharaoh alfo dalled the wife men and the forcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

12 For they caft down every man his rod, and they became ferpents: But Aarons rod fwallowed up their rods.

13 And he hardned Pharaohs heart, that he hearkned not unto them; as the LORD had faid.

14 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Pharaohs heart is heardned, he refufeth to let the people go.

18 And the fish that is in the river fhall die and the river fhall ftink; and the E gyptians fhall loath to drink of the water of the river.

(191 And LORD fpake unto Mofes, fay unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and ftretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams upon their rivers, and upon

their ponds, &upon all their pools of water,

15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morn ing, lo, he goeth out unto the water, and thou halt ftand by the rivers brink, againit he come; And the rod which was turned to a ferpent, fhalt thou take in thine hand. 16 And thou shalt fay unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath fent me unto thee Saying, Let my people go, that

they may become blood; & that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt both in veffels of wood & in veffels of itone.

20 And Mofes and Aaron did fo, as the LORD commanded ; and he lift up the rod and fmote the waters that were in the river, in the fight of Pharaoh, and in the fight of his fervants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

21 And the fish that was in the river died: and the river itank, and the Egypti ans could not drink of the water of the river: and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

22 And the magicians of Egypt did fo with their inchantments: and Pharaohs heart was hardned, neither did he heark en unto them as the LORD had faid.

23 And Pharaoh turned and went unto his houfe, neither did he fet his heart to this alfo.

24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink: for they could not drink of the water of the river.

25 And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had finitten the river.. CHAP, VIII.

1 Frogs are fent. 16 The dust turned into Lice 20 The swarms of flies, 32 Pharaob is bardned.

Nd the LORD fpake unto Mofes, Go A unto Pharaoh, & fay unto him, Thus faith the LORD, Let my people go, That they may terve me.

2 And if thou refufe to let them go beho'd I will fmite all thy borders witlogs. 3 And the river fhall bring forth frogs abundantly, which fhall go up, and conie into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy fervants, and upon thy people, & into thre ovens, and into thy kneading troughs.

4 And frogs thall come up both on thee, &upon thy people,&upon all shy fervants. 5 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, fay unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the ftreams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and caule frogs to come up upon the landlot Egypt.

6 And Aaron itretened out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

7 And the magicians did to with their inchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt. 8¶ Then

8 Then Pharaoh called for Mofes and Aaron, and faid, Intreat the LORD, that he may take away frogs from me, and from my people: and I will let the people go, that they may do facrifice unto the LORD. 9 And Mofes faid unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when fhall I intreat for thee, and for thy fervants, and for thy people, to deftroy the frogs from thee, and thy houfes, that they may remain in the river only

10 And he faid, To morrow. And hefaid, Be it according to thy word: thou mayeft know, that there is none like unto the LORD our God.

11 And the frogs fhali depart from thee, and from thy houfes, and from thy fervants, and from thy people; they fhall remain in the river only.

12 And Moles and Aaron went out from Pharaoh, and Mofes cried unto the LORD, becaufe of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh.

13 And the LORD did according to the word of Mofes : and the frogs died out of the houfes out of the villages, and out of the fields.

14 And they gathered them together upon heaps: and the land ftank,

15 But when Pharaoh faw that there was refpite, he hardened his heart, and harkaed not unto them; as the LORD had faid.

16 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and fmite duft of the land, that it maybecome lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

17 And they did fo; for Aaron ftretched out his hand with his rod, and fmote the duft of the earth, & it became lice, in man and in beat all the duft of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 18 And the magicians did fo with their inchantments to bring forth lice but they could not: fo there were lice upon man, and upon beaft.

19 Then the magicians faid unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaohs heart was hardened, and he hearkenned not unto them; as the LORD had faid. 20 Andthe LORD faid unto Mofes, Rife up early in the morning, and ftand before Pharaoh: (lo,he cometh forth toy water.) and fay unto him, Thus faith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may ferve me. 21 Elfe if thou will not let my people go, behold, I will fend fwarms of flies upon thee, & upon thy fervants, & upon thy people, and into thy houfes and the houfes of the Egyptians fhall be full of fwarms of flies, and alfo the ground whereon they are. 22 And I will fever in that day the land of Gothen, in which my people dwell, that no fwarms of flies fhall be there; to the end thou mayelt know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.

23 And I will put a divifion between my people and thy people: to morrow thall this fign be.

24 And theLDRD did fo: and there came a griveous fwarm of flies into the houfe of Pharaoh, and into his fervants houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reafon of the fwarm of flies.

25 And Pharaoh called for Mofes, and for Aaren, and faid, Ge ye, facrifice to your God in the land.

26 And Mofes faid, It is not meet so to de, for we fhall facrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our Gode 10, fhall we facrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not tone us?

27 We will go three days journey into the wilderness, and facrifice to the LORD our God, as he fhall command us.

28 And Pharaoh faid, I will let you go, that ye may facrifice to the LORD your God, in the wilderness; only you fhall not go very far away: intreat for me.

19 And Mofes faid, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat theLORD, that the fwarms of flies may depart from Pharaob, from his fervants, and from his people, to_morrow; but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more, in not letting the people go to facrifice to the LORD

30 And Mofes went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD.

31 And the LCRD did according to the word of Mofes, and he removed the warms of flies from Pharaoh,from his fervants & from his people: there remained not one.

32 And Pharaoh hardend his heart at this time alfo, neither would he let the people go.

CHAP IX.

The marain of beafts. 8 The plague of boils and blains: 22 The plague of bail.

Hen the LORD faid unto Mofes, Go

Tin unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus

faith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may ferve me.

2 For if thou refufe to let them go, and wilt hold them ftill.

3 Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field upon the horfes, upon the affes, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the fheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain..

4 And the LORD fhail fever between the cattle of Ifrael, and the cattle of Egypt: and there fhall nothing die of all that is the childrens of Ifrael.

5 -And the LORD appointed a fet time, faying, To morrow the LORD fhall do this thing in the land.

6 And the LORD did that thing on the morrow: and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.

7 And Pharaoh fent, and behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Ifraelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.

8 And. the LORD faid unto Mofes, and unto Aaron take to you hand fulls of athes of the furnace, and let Mofes fprinkle it towards the heaven in the fight of Pharaoh

9 And it fhall become fmall duft in all the land of Egypt,and fhall be a boil breaking forth with blains npon man, and upon heaft, throughout all the land of Egypt.

TO And they took afhes of the furnace, & ftood before Pharaoh: and Mofes Sprink

The plague of bail. Chap x, led it up towards heaven, and it became a boil breaking forth with blains, upon man, and upon beaft.

And the magicians could not stand before Mofes, becaufe of the boil for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.

12 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkned not unto them; as the LORD had fpoken unto Mofes.

13 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Rife up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and fay unto him, Thus faith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may ferve me. 14 For I will at this time fend all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy fervants, and upon thy people: that thou mayeft know that there is none like me in all the earth.

15 For now I will ftretch out my hand I may fmite thee and thy people with peiti lence; & thou shalt be cut off from y earth, 16 And in very deed for this caufe have I raised thee up, for to fhew in thee my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

17 As yet exalteft thou thy felf against my people, that thou wilt not let them go? 18 Behold, to morrow about this time I will caufe it to rain a very grievious hail,

fuch as hath not been in Egypt, fince the

foundation thereof, even until now.

19 Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field: for upon every man and bealt which thall be found in the field, and fhall not be brought home, the hail fhall come down upon them, and they fhall die.

20 He that feared the word of the LORD amongit the fervants of Pharaoh, made his fervants, and his cattle fice into the houfes. 21 And he that regarded not the word of the LORD, left his fervants, and his cattle in the field.

22 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beaft, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.

23 And Mofes ftretched forth his rod toward heaven, and the LORD fent thunder and hail, and the fire ran atong upon the ground, and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.

24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, fuch as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt, fince it became a nation.

25 And the hail fmote throughout all the land of Egypt,all that was in the field, both man & beaft: and the hail fmote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of y field. 26 Only in the land of Gothen,where the children of lfrael were, was there no hail. 27 And Pharaoh fent, and called for Motes and Aaron, and laid unto them, I have finned this time: the LORD is righ teous, and I and my people are wicked."

28 Intreat the LORD (for it is enough)

that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye fhall ftay no longer.

29 Ard Mofes faid unto him, Affoon as I am gone out of the city, I will fpread abroad my hands unto the LORD and the thunder fhall ceafe, neither fhall there be, any more hail that thou mayeft know, how tharthe earth is the LORD'S.

30 But as for thee & thy fervants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.

31 And the fax and the barley was fmitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled.

32 But the wheat and the rie were not fmitten: for they were not grown up.

33 And Mofes went out of the city from' Pharaon, and fpread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and y thunders and hail ceafed, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

34 And when Pharaoh faw that the rain, and the hail, and the thunders were ceafed, he finned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his fervants.

35 And heart of Pharaoh was hardened." neither would he let the children of Ifrael go: as the LORD had (poken by Moses. CHAP. X.

A Nothe LORD faid unto Mofes, Go in

unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his fervants: that' might fhew thefe my figns before him.

2 And that thou mayeft tell in the ears of thy fon, and of thy fons fon, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my figns which I have done amongst them: that ye may know how that I am the LORD.

3 And Mofes and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and faid unto him, Thus faith the LORD God of the Hebrews How long wilt thou refufe to humble thy felf before me? Let my people go, that they may ferve me.

4 Elfe if thou retufe to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locufts into thy coaft.

5 And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to fee the earth; and they fhall eat the refidue of that which is efcaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail and fhall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field.

6 And they fhall fill thy houfes, and the houfes of all thy fervants, and the houfes of all the Egyptians, which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers fathers have feen, fince the day that they were upon the earth, unto this day. And he turned himfelf, and went out from Pharaon.

7 And Pharaohs fervants faid unto him, How long fhall this man be a fnare unto us? Let the men go, that they may ferve the LORD their God; Knoweft thou not yet, that Egypt is deftroyed?

8 And Mofes and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh and he faid unto them; Go, ferve the LORD your God i but who are they that hall go?

9 And Mofes faid, We will go with ont young, and with our old, with our fons,

The plague of locufts.

Exodus. Death of the first-born threatned. ferve the LORD, until we come thither. 27 But the LORD hardened Pharaohs heart, and he would not let them go.

and with our daughters, with our flocks, and with our herds will we go for we muft bold a feaft unto the LORD.

10 And he faid unto them, Let the LORD be fo with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: Look to it, for evil is before you.

11 Not fo: go now ye that are men, and ferve the LORD for that you did defire : and they were driven out from Pharaohs prefence.

12 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egyt for the locufts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left. 13 And Mofes ftretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an eaft-wind upon the land all that day, and all that night: and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locufts.

14 And the locufts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coafts of Egypt: very grievous were they: before them there were no fuch locuits as they, neither after them fhall be fuch.

15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, fo that the land was darkned, and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees, which the hail had left and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

16 Then Pharaoh called for Mofes and Aaron in hafte; and he faid, I have finned againfty LORD your God, and against you. 17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my fin only this once, and entreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.

18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the LORD.

19 And the LORD turned a mighty-ftrong welt-wind, which took away the locufts, and caft them into the Red-fea: there remained not one locuft in all the coafts of Egypt. 20 But the LORD hardened Pharaohs heart, fo that he would not let the children of Ifrael go.

21 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of E. gypt, even darkness which may be felt.

22 And Mofes ftretched forth his hand toward heaven: and there was a thick darkDefs in all the land of Egypt three days.

23 They faw not one another, neither rofe any from his place for three days: but all the children of Ifrael had light in their dwellings.

24 And Pharaoh called unto Mofes,

and faid. Go je, torve the LORD, only let your flocks and your herds be ftayed: let your little ones alto go with you.

25 And Mofes faid, Thou must give us alfo facrifices, and burnt offerings, that we may facrifice unto the LORD our God.

26 Our cattle alfo fhall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind: for thereof mult we take to ferve the LORD our Ged: and we know not with what we must

28 And Pharaoh faid unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thy felf, fee my face no more for in that day thou feelt my face. thou shalt die.

29 And Mofes faid, Thou haft spoken well: I will fee thy face again no more. CHAP. XI.

1 God's meage to the Ifraelites to borrow their neighbours jewels.

Nd the LORD faid unto Mofes, Yet

A will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he fhall let you go, he fhall furely thrust you out hence altogether.

2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of filver, and jewels of gold.

3 And the LORD gave the people favour in the fight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Mofes was very great in the land of Egypt in the fight of Pharaohs fervants, and in the fight of the people.

4 And Mofes faid, Thus faith the LORD, About mid-night will I go out into the midit of Egypt.

5 And all the firft-born in the land of Egypt fhall die, from the firft-born of Pharaoh, that fitteth upon his throne, even unto the first-born of the maid- fervant that is behind the mill; and all the first-born of beafts.

6 And there fhall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, fuch as there was none like it, nor thall be like it any more.

7 But against any of the children of Ifrael fhall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Ifrael.

8 And all thefe thy fervants fhall come down unto me, and bow down themfelves unto me, faying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee, and after that I will go out and he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.

9 Andy LORD faid unto Mofes, Pharaoh fhall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in land of Egypt.

to And Moles & Aaron did all these won. ders before Pharaoh and LORD hardened Pharaohs heart, fo that he would not let the children of Ifrael go out of his land. CHAP. XII

Nd the LORD fpake unto Mofes and

A Aaron in the land of Egypt, faying,

2 This month fhall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

31 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Ifrael, faying, In the tenth day of this month they fhall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an houte.
