18 And Jofeph faid unto his father, Not fo, my father: for this is the first-born, put thy right hand upon his head.

19 And his father refufed, and faid, I know is, my fon I know it: he alfo fhall become a people, and be allo fhall be great; but truly his younger brother fhall be greater than he, and his feed fhall become a multitude of nations.

20 And he blefied them that day, faying, In thee fhall Ifrael bleis, faying, God make thee as Ephraim, and as Manatich: and he fet Ephraim before Manaffeh.

21 And Ifract laid unto Jofeph, Behold, I die; but God thail be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.

22 Moreover, I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my fword and with my bow.

Nd Jacobcalled unto his fons, and faid Gather your felves together, that I may tell you that which fhall befall you in the last days.

Gather your felves together, and hear ye fons of Jacob, and hearken unto Ifrael your father.

3 Reuben, thou art my firft-born, my might, and the beginning of my ftrength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power.

4 Unftable as water, thou shalt not excel, because thou wenteft up to thy fathers bed, then defiledit thou it :He went up to my couch.

25 Even by the God of thy father, who fhall help thee, and by the almighty, who fhall bless thee with bleflings of heaven above, bleffings of the deep that lieth under, bleflings of the breaft, and of § womb.

26 The bleflings of thy father have prevailed above the bleflings of my progenitors, unto the utmott bound of the everlafting hills, they fhall be on the head of Jofeph, and on the crown of the head of him that was feparate from his brethren

27 Benjamin fhall raven as a wolf's in the morning he fhall devour the prey, and at night he fhall divide the fpoil.

28 All thefe are the twelve tribes of Ifrael: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and bleffed them; every one according to his blefling he bleffed them.

29 And he charged them, and faid unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers, in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite.

30 In the cave that is in the field of Michpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite, for a poffeflion of a burying-place.

2 And Jofeph commanded his fervants the physicians to embalm his father; and the physicians embalmed Ifrael.

3 And fourty days were fulfilled for him (for fo are fulfilled the daysofthofe which are embalmed) and the Egyptians mourn ed for him threefcore and ten days.

4 And when the days of his mourning were paft, Jofeph fpake unto the houfe of Pharaoh, faying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, fpake I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, faying,

5 My father made me fware, faying, Lo, die in my grave which I have digged for me, in the land of Canaan, there fhalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and 1 will come again.

6 And Pharaon faid, Go up, and bury thy father according as he made theeware. 71 And Jofeph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the fervants of Pharaoh, the elders of his houfe, and all the Elders of the land of Egypt.

8 And all the house of Jofeph, and his brethren, and his fathers houfe; only their litle ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Gothen. 9 And there went up with him both chariots and Horfemen and it was a very great company.

10 And they came to the threshing-flour of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very fore Lamentation: and he made a mourning for bis father feven days,

And when the inhabitants of the Tand, the Canaanites faw,the mourning in the floor of Atad, they laid, This is a griev cus mourning to the Egyptians; where fore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond Jourdan.

12 And his fons did unto him according as he commanded them.

13 For his lons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a poffeflion of a Drying place,of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

14 And Jofeph returned into Egypt he and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buryed his father.

154 And when Jofephs brethren faw that their father was dead, they faid, Jofeph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

16 And they fent meffengers unto Jofeph, faying, Thy father did command before he died, faying,

17 So fhall ye fay unto Jofeph, Forgive, pray thee now, the trefpafs of thy bre thren, and their fin; for they did unto thee evil: And now, we pray thee, forgive the trefpais of the fervants of the God of thy father. And Jofeph wept when they ipake unto him.

18 And his brethren alfo went and fell down before his face, and they faid, Behold, we be thy fervants

19 And Joseph faid unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

But as for you, ye thought evil a gainit me, but God meant it unto good to bring to pafs, as it is this day, to fave much people alive.

21 Now therefore fear ye not I will nourish you, and your lit le ones. And ne conforted them, and fpake kindly unto them.

22 And Jofeph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his fathers house; & jofeph lived an hundred and ten years,

23 And Jofeph faw Ephraims children, of the third generation: the children alfo of Machir, the fon of Manaffen, were brought up upon Jofephs knees.

24 And Jofeph faid unto his brethren; I die: and God will furely vifit you, & bring you out of this land, unto the land, which he fware to Abraham,tolfaac, and to Jacob.

25 And Jofeph took an oath of the children of Ifrael, faying, God will furely vifit you, and ye fhall carry up my bones from hence.

26 So Jofeph died, being an hundred and ten years old and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

OW there are the names of the

N children of Ifrael which came into

Egypt, every man and his houfhold
came with Jacob.

a Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
3 achar Zebulon, and Benjamin,

4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad and Alher. And all the fouls that came ont of the loyns of Jacob, were feventy fouls; for Jofeph was in Egypt already.

6 And Jofeph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and encreafed abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

8 Now there arofe up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Jofeph,

9 And he faid unto his people. Behold, the people of the children of Ifrael, are more and mightier than we.

to Come on, let us deal wifely with them, lett they multiply and it come to pals, that when there falleth out any war, they joyn alfo unto our enemies, and fight against us and fo get them up out of land. I Therefore they did fet over them task-mafters, to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh' trea fure-cities, Pithom and Raamtes.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew; and they were grieved because of the children of Ifrael.

13 And the Egyptians made the children, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, of Ifra:1 to ferve with rigour.

14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage in morter, and in brick and in all manner of fervice in the field all their fervice wherein they made them ferve, was with rigour.

151 And the king of Egypt fpake to the Hebrew midwives, (of which the name of one was Shiprah, and the name of the other Puah :)

16 And he faid, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew woman, and fee them upon the ftools, if it be a son, then ye hall kill him; but if it be a daughter, then the thall live

17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but faved the men children alive.

18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and faid unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have faved the men children alive?

19 And the midwives faid unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women: for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in

unto them.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

21 And it came to pafs, because the midwives feared God, he made them houses. 22 And Pharaoh charged all his people faying, every fon that is born, ye fhall caft into the river, and every daughter ye fhail fave alive.

CHAP. II.

1 Mofes is born, 3 and caft into the flags. 5 He is found, and brought up by Pharaobs daughter.

10 And the child grew, and he brought him unto Pharaohs daughter, and he became her fon. And the called his name Mofes and the faid, Becaufe I drew him out of the water.

And it came to pafs in those days when Mofes was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens; and he fpied an Egyptian imit ing an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

And he looked this way,and y way: & when he faw there was no man, he flew the Egyptian, and bid him in the fand.

13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews ftrove together; and he faid to bim that did the wrong, Wherefore fmiteft thou thy fellow?

14And he faid, Who made thee a prince, and a judge over us ? intendelt thou to kill me, as thou killedit the Egyptian? And Mofes feared, and faid, Surely this thing is known.

15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing he fought to flay Moles. But Mofes fed from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he fat down by a well.

16 Now the priest of Midian had feven daughters; and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their fathers flock.

17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Mofes ftood up and helped them, and watered their flock.

18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he faid. How is it that you are come fo foon to day?

19 And they faid, an Egyptian deliver ed us out of the hand of the thepherds, and alfo drew water enough for us, and water

And the woman conceived, and bare a fon; and when the faw him that he was a goodly child, he hid him three months.

3 And when he could not longer hide him, the took for him an ark of butrufhes, and daubed it with flime, and with pitch, and put the child therem and the laid it in the flags by the rivers brink.

4 And his fifter flood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash her felf at the river, and her maidens walked along by the river fide: and when the faw the ark among the flags, the fent her maid to fetch it.

6 And when the had opened it, the faw the child: and behold the babe wept. And fhe had compaffion on him, and faid, This is one of the Hebrews children.

7 Then faid his fifter to Pharaohs daughter, Shall I go, and call to thee a nurfe of the Hebrew women, that the may nurse, the child for thee.

20 And he faid unto his daughters. And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.

21 And Mofes was content to dwell with the man, and he gave Mofes Zipporah his daughter.

22 And The bare bim a fon, and he called his name Gerfhom; for he faid, I have been a ftranger in a ftrange land.

23 And it came to pass, in process of time, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Ifrael lighed by reason of the bondage,and they cried : & their cry came up unto God, by reafon of the bondage.

24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembred bis covenant with Abraham, with Ifaac, and with Jacob..

25 And God looked upon the children of Ifrael, and God had refpećt unto them. CHAP. III.

Mofes keepeth Fetbros flock. 2 God appearing to bim in a burning bush, 9 Sendeth him to deliver Ifrael.

8 And Pharaohs daughter faid unto her Nather in law, the priest of Midian:

Go, And the maid went and called the childs mother.

9 And Pharaohs daughter said unto her,

3 And Mofes faid, I will now turn afide, and fee this great fight, why the but is not

4 And when the LORD faw that he turned afide to fee, God called unto him out of the midfi of the bufh, and faid, Mofes, Mcfes, And he faid. Here am 1.

5 And he faid, Drav not nigh hither, put off thy fhoes from off thy teet; for the place whereon thou ftandeft is holyground. 6 Moreover he faid, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham the God of Ifaac, and the God of Jacob. And Mofes hid his face. for he was afraid to look up on God.

71 And the LORD faid, I have furely feen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry, by reafon of their task-mafters; for I know their forrows.

8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey unto the place of the Ca naanites, and the Hittites, and the Amo rites; and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebufires.

9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Ifrael is come unto me and I have alfo teen the oppreflion wherewith the Egyptians opprefs them.

10 Come now therefore, and I will fend shee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayeft bring forth my people the children of Ifrael, out of Egypt.

It And Moles faid unto God, Who am I, that I should go noco Pharaoh, and that I fhould bring forth the children of Ifiael out of Egypt.

12 And he faid, Certainly I will be with thee, and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have fent thee: When thou haft brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye fhail ferve god upon this mountain.

13 And Mofes faid unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Ifrael, and fhall fay unto them, The God of your fathers hath fent me unto you, and they fhall fay to me, What is his name? What fhall I say unto them?

14 And God faid unto Mofes, 1 AM THAT I AM And he faid, Thus fhalt thou fay unto the children of Ifrael I AM hath fent me unto you.

15 And God faid moreover unto Mcfes, Thus fhalt thou fay unto the children of Ifrael, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God.of Ifaac, and the God of Jacob, hath fent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my Memorial unto all generations.

19 And I am fure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.

20 And I will ftretch out my hand, and fmite Egypt with all my wonders, which I will do in the midft thereof; and after that he will let you go.

2 And I will give this people favour in the fight of Egyptians: and it fhall come to pals, when ye go, ye fhall not go empty:

22 But every woman fhall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that fojourneth 10 her house, jewels of filver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and ye thall put them upon your fons, and upon your daughters, and ye fhall fpoil the Egyptians.

Nd Mofes anfwered, and faid, But be

A hold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will lay The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.

2 And the LORD faid unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he faid, A rod.

3 And he faid, Caft it on the ground; & he caft it on the ground, and it became a ferpent; and Mofes fled from before it.

4 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand.

5 That they may believe that the LORD Gol of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Ifaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

6 And the LORD faid furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bofom; and he put his hand into his bofom: and when he took it out, behold his hand was leprous as fnow.

7 And he laid, Put thine hand into thy befom again. And he put his hand into his bofom again, and plucked it out of his hofom, and behold, it was turned again as his other Reih

8 And it thall come to pafs, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the firft fign, that they will believe the voice of the latter lign.

12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou fhalt fay.

13 And he faid. O my LORD,fend I pray thee, by the band of bim whom thou wilt fend.

Mofes and Aaron.

31 And the people believed, and when they heard that the LORD had vifited the children of Ifrael, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worthipped. CHAP. V.

14 And the anger of the LORD was kin-Pharaob ebideth Mofes and Aaron, 5 dled against Mofes, and he faid, Is not Aa- He increaseth the Ifraelites task. ron the Levite thy brother? I know that Mofes complaineth to God. he can speak well. And alfo behold, he comerh forth to meet thee: and when he Ad afterward Mofes and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus faith the LORD God of Ifrael, let my people go, that they may hold a feaft unto me in the wildernefs.

19 And the LORD faid unto Mofes in Midian, go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which fought thy life.

20 And Mofes took his wife, and his fons, and fet them upon an afs, and he returned to the land of Egypt. And Mofes took the rod of God in his hand.

21 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, When thou goeft to return into Egypt, fee that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand but I will harden his heart, that he fhall not let the people go.

22 And thou fhalt fay unto Pharaoh, Thus faith the LORD, Ifrael is my fon, even my first. born.

23. And I fay unto thee, Let my fon go, that he may ferve me: and if thou refufe to let him go, behold, I will flay thy fon, even thy first born.

24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him,and fought to kill him.

25 Then Zipporah took a fharp ftone and cut off the foreskin of her fon, and caft it at his feet, and faid, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

26 So he let him go: then fhe faid, A bioody husband thou art, becaufe of the circumcifion.

27 And the LORD faid to Aaron, Go

2 And Pharaoh faid, Who is the LORD, that I fhould obey his voice to let Ifrael go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Ifrael go.

3 And they faid, The God of Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days journey into the defart, and facrifice unto the LORD our God, left he fall upon us with peftilence, or with the fword.

4 And the king of Egypt faid unto them, Wherefore do ye, Mofes and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.

5 And Pharaoh faid, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and you make them reft from their burdens.

6 And Pharaoh commanded the fame day the task mafters of the people, and their officers, faying,

7 Ye shall no more give thepeople straw to make bricks as heretofore: let them go and gather ftraw for themselves.

8 And the tale of the bricks which they did make heretofore, you lhall lay upon them; you fhall not diminish ought thereof, for they be idle, therefore they cry, faying, Let us go and facrifice to our God.

9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.

10 And the task masters of the people went out, and their officers, and they pake to the people faying, Thus faith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

It Go ye, get you ftraw where you can find it: yet not ought of your work fhall be diminished

12 So the people were fcarred abroad throughout all the land of Egypt, to gather ftubble instead of itraw.

13 Andy task-matters hafted them, faying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was fraw.

14 And the officers of the children of Ifrael, which Pharaohs task-maiters had
