7 But as for me, through Thine abundant mercy I enter Thy temple;

I bow myself down towards Thy holy sanctuary,
In reverential fear of Thee:

"JEHOVAH, guide me into Thy righteousness;
"Because of those who watch me,
"Make plain Thy path before me.

9 "For there is no truth in their mouth,
"Within them is excess of mischief;
“Their throat is an open sepulchre,
"With their tongue they speak smoothly.

10 "Deal with them, O God, according to their guilt,
"Let them fail in their designs;

"On account of their many transgressions cast them out, "For they have rebelled against Thee.

"So shall all, who take refuge with Thee, rejoice,

They shall ever shout for joy, because Thou protectest them; "So shall all those exult in Thee, who love Thy name, 12"Because Thou, JEHOVAH, blessest the righteous man, "And encirclest him with Thy favour as with a shield.”

JEHOVAH accepteth my prayer.

10 All mine enemies shall be exceedingly ashamed and confounded, Again shall they, in a moment, be put to shame.

PSALM VII.

1 JEHOVAH, my God, with Thee do I take refuge.
Save me from all my persecutors and deliver me;
2 Lest they, like a lion, tear me in pieces,
While there is no one to rescue, no. one to deliver.

3 JEHOVAH, my God, if I have done thisIf there be iniquity in my hands

with me

4 If I have requited with evil him who was at peace Or if I have stripped mine adversary to utter destitution, 5 Let the enemy pursue and overtake me;

Let him cast me alive to the ground and trample upon me, Yea let him bring down my glory to the dust, to dwell there.

6 Arise, JEHOVAH, in Thine anger;

Raise up Thyself against the fury of mine enemies,
And awake, decree judgment in my favour.

Let the assembled people encircle Thee,

And sit Thou on high above them.

Let JEHOVAH judge the people;

Give sentence for me, O JEHOVAH,
According to mine innocency,

And according to the integrity which is in me.
Let now wickedness bring the wicked to an end;
But establish Thou the righteous man,

Because Thou art a searcher of the hearts and reins,
O righteous God.

10 God, the Saviour of the upright in heart,

Holdeth a shield before me.

God giveth sentence in favour of the righteous man ;
And God is continually angry with the wicked.
12 If he repent not, He sharpeneth His sword;
HE bendeth His bow and stringeth it,
And fitteth to it the instruments of death;
HE maketh for Himself flaming arrows.

Behold he conceiveth iniquity,
And travaileth with mischief,
And bringeth forth delusion.

He hath digged a pit and hollowed it out,

And he tumbleth into the pit-fall which he hath made.

13 flaming arrows—i. e. the lightnings. 14 he the wicked man. In this verse

is described the progress of his wickedness, and in metaphors similar to those employed in other places of Scripture. Thus, "When lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." Jam. i. 15. "They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit." Job xv. 35.

16 His mischief &c.— i. e. The mischief which he intended against others recoils upon himself.

16 His mischief returneth upon his own head,

And his violence descendeth upon the crown of his head.

I will praise JEHOVAH according to His righteousness, And I will hymn the name of JEHOVAH, the most High."

PSALM VIII.

1 O JEHOVAH, our Lord,

How glorious is Thy name throughout the earth!

THOU, who displayest Thy glory in the heavens,

2 Hast asserted Thy power by the mouth of sucking infants, Because of Thine enemies,

So as to still the vengeful foe.

3 When I contemplate Thy heavens, the work of. Thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which Thou hast framed: (I say) 4 What is feeble man,
