things to God. I am in his hands, that is I enough. He knows all; he can, and he will, save me. Nay, I need not look off fromTM them: I will hide from myself nothing that may happen. I may never recover from this sickness I may suffer much pain-I may perceive my faculties begin to fail-I may be scarcely able to read, pray, or think I may have pecuniary difficulties. Other trials too may be in reserve and I may be tempted to fretfulness and doubt: but through all He is able to uphold me. If he loves me, and I know he does, then he will give me nothing evil, and he will refuse me nothing good. Then, further, what can take away his love? I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height,

nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.-The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.-Behold, God is my salvation: I will trust, and not be afraid.

The Power of Grace.

1 Amazing grace-how sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like me!

2

I once was lost, but now am found;

Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved;

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed!

3 Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come:

4

'Tis

grace has brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me;

His word my hope secures ;

He will my shield and portion be

As long as life endures;

5 And when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease,

I shall possess within the veil
A life of joy and peace.

HEAVEN A PLACE OF REST.

THE remainder of my life will probably be disturbed by infirmity and pain, and in my state I can do little for others; but it is very pleasant to think of my rest in Heaven. That I shall reach it, blessed be God, I do not doubt. Whom he has justified, them he also has glorified; and I know that I am justified, because I believe on Christ with all my heart and soul, loving his whole salvation, and relying on him to accomplish it for me*.

* Rom. viii. 30.

The Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and shall preserve me to his heavenly kingdom * I have washed my robes, and have made them white in the blood of the Lamb; and therefore I shall be before the throne of God, to serve him for evert. In his presence there remains a glorious rest for his peoplet. Blessed be God, I shall soon enter upon it. And the terms in which God the Spirit has been pleased to describe it, are exceedingly consolatory to me in my weak

ness:

Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours.-They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall
