Sweet to look inward, and attend
The whispers of his love;

Sweet to look upward, to the place
Where Jesus pleads above.

Sweet on his faithfulness to rest,
Whose love can never end;
Sweet on his covenant of grace
For all things to depend.

Sweet, in the confidence of faith,
To trust his wise decrees;
Sweet to lie passive in his hands,
And know no will but His.

If such the sweetness of the streams, What must the Fountain be!

What, to derive celestial bliss

Immediately from Thee!

Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? or whither shall I up flee from thy presence? If I ascend into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there: if I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched-out arm; and there is nothing too hard for thee, great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men, to give every one according to his ways, Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come t.
