Ipse præibit ante illum, in spiritu et virtute Eliæ, parare Domino plebem perfectam. 2 Joannes est nomen ejus vinum et siceram non bibet, et multi in nativitate ejus gaudebunt. 3 Ex utero senectutis et sterili Joannes natus est, præcursor Domini. 4 Iste puer magnus coram Domino: nam et manus ejus cum ipso est. : 5 Nazaræus vocabitur puer iste vinum et siceram non bibet, et omne immundum non manducabit ex utero matris suæ. He shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to prepare unto the Lord a perfect people. John is his name, Wine and strong drink shall he not drink, and many shall rejoice in his birth.
