O wondrous fellowship! The Creator of the human race, taking unto himself a living body, deigns to be born of a Virgin, and becoming man, from no human generation, hath bestowed upon us his divinity.

When thou was born after an unspeakable manner of a virgin, then were the Scriptures fulfilled: thou camest down as rain into the fleece, to save the children of men. We praise thee, O our God.

In the bush which Moses saw unconsumed by the fire, we acknowledge the figure of thy glorious inviolate virginity. Mother of God, intercede for us.

The root of Jesse hath budded forth, the Star is risen out of Jacob, a Virgin
