8 How would my leaping heart rejoice,
And think my heaven secure!
I trust the all-creating voicé,
And faith desires no more.

1 OUR God, how firm his promise stands

E'en when he hides his face!

He trusts in our Redeemer's hands
His glory and his grace.

2 Then why, my soul, these sad complaints, Since Christ and we are one?

Thy God is faithful to his saints,

Is faithful to his Son.

3 Beneath his smiles my heart has liv'd,
And part of heaven possess'd;
I praise his name for grace receiv'd,
And trust him for the rest.

1 LORD, we adore thy vast designs, ff & The obscure abyss of providence;

Too deep to sound with mortal lines,
Too dark to view with feeble sense.

2 Now thou array'st thine awful face@ In angry frowns without a smile:

We through the cloud believe thy grace, A
Secure of thy compassion still.

Springs from the presence of the Lord;
And in thy light our souls shall see
The glories promis'd in thy word.

to the hills I lift mine eyes,

The eternal hills beyond the skies; Thence all her help my soul derives ; There my almighty Refuge lives.:

2 He lives; the everlasting God,

That built the world, that spread the flood:
The heavens with all their hosts he made,
And the dark regions of the dead.

3 He guides our feet, he guards our way;
His morning smiles bless all the day:
He spreads the evening veil, and keeps
The silent hours while Israel sleeps.

O heaven I lift my waiting eyes,
There all my hopes are laid:
The Lord that built the earth and skies,
Is my perpetual aid.

2 Their feet shall never slide to fall,
Whom he designs to keep;

His ear attends the softest call,
His eyes can never sleep.

3 He will sustain our weakest powers
With his almighty arm;

And watch our most unguarded hours
Against surprising harm.

4 Israel, rejoice, and rest secure,
Thy keeper is the Lord;

His wakeful eyes employ his power
For thine eternal guard.

5 Nor scorching sun, nor sickly moon, Shall have his leave to smite;

He shields thy head from burning noon, From blasting damps at night.

6 He guards thy soul, he keeps thy breath, Where thickest dangers come;

Go and return, secure from death,
Till God commands thee home.

2 Open now the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing streams do flow;
Let the fiery cloudy pillar

Lead me all my journey through :
Strong deliverer,

Be thou still my strength and shield,

3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,
anxious fears subside:

Bid my
Death of death, and hell's destruction,

Land me safe on Canaan's side:

Songs of praises

I will ever give to thee.
