A. The reafons annexed to the fecond commandment, the more to enforce it, contained in thefe words, for the Lord thy God am a jealous God, vifiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me and fhewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me,and keep my commandments c; are befide God's fovereignty over us, and propriety in us d, his fervent zeal for his own worship e, and his revengeful indignation against all falfe worship, as being a fpiritual whoredomf; accounting the breakers of his

men: v. 16. Forbidding us to fpeak to the Gentiles, that they might be faved; to fill up their fins alway, for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermoft.

4. The third commandment, is, Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain i.

A. The third commandment requires, That the name of God, his titles, attributes k, ordinances, the word,
