Part of the Liturgies of St. Mark, St. Chryfoftom and St. Bafil. ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν.—Ομοίως καὶ τὸ ποτήρχου με τὸ δειπνῆσαι λέγων πίεζε ἐξ αὐτὸ πάνες, τῦτό ἐσι τὸ Αἷμά με τὸ δ καινῆς διαθήκης, τὸ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν καὶ πολλῶν ἐκχεί μθμον εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν. — [add, τ το ποιᾶτε εἰς τὰ ἐμὰ ἀνάμνησιν.]

Lit. Baf. Λαβὼν ἄρἷον ἐπὶ ἢ ἁγίων αὐτὸ καὶ ἀχράνων χειρῶν, ἀναδείξας σοι τῷ θεῷ καὶ πατρὶ, εὐχαριςήσας, εὐλογή σας, ἁγιάσας, κλάσας,—ἔδωκε τοῖς ἁγίος αὐτὸ μαθηταῖς καὶ ἀποςόλοις, εἰπών· Λάβέλε, φάγετε, τότό με ἐςὶ τὸ Σῶμα, τὸ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν κλώμθμον εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν.

Ομοίως καὶ τὸ ποτήριον ἐκ τῶ γυνήματα ἡ ἀμπέλε λαβὼν, κεράσας, εὐχαριςήσας, εὐλογήσας,, ἁγιάσας, — ἔδωκε τοῖς ἁγίοις αὐτὸς μαθηταῖς καὶ ἀποςίλοις, εἰπών· πίεζε ἐξ αὐτῇ πάνες, τότό ἐςι τὸ Αἷμά με τὸ τ καινῆς διαθήκης, τὸ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν καὶ πολλῶν ἐκχυνόμβρον εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν. Τέτο ποᾶτε εἰς τὰ ἐμίω ἀνάμνησιν. Οσάκις γὰρ ἂν ἐπίητε τ ἄρτον τότον, καὶ τὸ πολή ριον τέτο πίνητε, ὃ ἐμὸν θάνατον καταιγέλλε]ε, [add και] τὰ ἐμίω ανάτασιν ἡμιλογεῖτε.

he took the Cup, faying, Drink ye all
of this, This is my Blood of the New
Teftament, which is fhed for you and
for many for the Remiffion of Sins.

Lit. Baf. Taking Bread into his holy and undefiled Hands, and prefenting it to Thee his God and Father, he gave Thanks, bleffed, fanctified, and broke it, and gave it to his holy Difciples and Apoftles, faying, Take, eat, This is my Body, which is broken you, for the Remiffion of Sins. In like manner he took the Cup of the Fruit of the Vine, and having mixed it, he gave Thanks, bleffed, and fanctified it, and gave it to his holy Disciples and Apoftles, faying, Drink ye all of this, This is my Blood of the New Teftament, which is fhed for you and for many, for the Remiffion of Sins. Do this in Remembrance of me. For as oft as ye eat this Bread, and drink this Cup, ye do shew forth my Death [add and] confefs my Resurrection.

a If what is here inclosed in Hooks be omitted, as fuppofing it to be an after Addition, then avtš his must be added here agreeably to Lit. Syr. which inftead thereof has put tuæ thy, See note in the other Column.

And again, τῆς ἁγίας καὶ φρικωδεςατης προκειμένης θυσίας, the holy and tremendous Sacrifice Iying in open View. Athenag. Legat. p. 49. καὶ τοι προσφέρειν δέον αναίμακῖον θυσίαν, yet we ought to offer the unbloody Sacrifice.

* f πράγματα, good things. S. Cyr. ἐρανίων δὲ πραγμάτων καινῆς διαθήκης πληρώσειε, replenifh you with the heavenly Things of the new Covenant, p. 13. And, καὶ ἐνέργειαν θείων πραγμάτων, and the Energy of divine Things, p. 11. I have omitted ἃ ὀφθαλμὸς ἐκ εἶδε, &c. which Eye hath not feen, &c. becaufe I take it to have been added by fuch as fuppofed the ἐπυράνια δωρήματα, the heavenly Gifts, οι πράγματα, Things, to refer to the heavenly Bleffings of the future State, whereas they seem to fignify here more immediatly the fpiritual and heavenly Food of the Body and Blood of Chrift; for the Eucharift (as S.
