3. (a) "The Priest shall ask ;” to prevent the possibility of violating the law as to "One Baptism." (Nicene Creed)

(b) If, instead of "No," they shall answer “It is doubtful"; owing to the loss of Register, or the questionable character of the Registered rite, in respect of either "Minister, Matter, or Words," which are the Three Essentials ;— then the Conditional Form of Baptism must be used.

THE OFFICE OF ADULT BAPTISM.

The same as for Infants, mutatis mutandis; i.e., altered here and there to suit the case of "Riper years "and responsible persons able to answer for themselves.

Observe. This Prayer occurs twice in the Office, once before Baptism and once after. It also occurs in each of the Infant Offices; before Baptism in Public, after Baptism in Private. In the two "before" cases, prayer is made for Regeneration; in the two "after," Regeneration is taken for granted as a gift already bestowed; and the prayer now is for Continuance " according to this beginning," or Final

Perseverance.

1. Name the several blessings which Christ in His Gospel hath promised to the Baptized.

8. What parts furnish answers to the cavils of (1) Quakers and (2) Anabaptists?

9. Why is it required (1) that Baptism should be on Sunday? (2) that privately baptized children should afterwards be brought to Church? (3) Why is no use made of the Font in case 2?

10. What does Canon 30 say about the Sign of the Cross? Give Scripture warrant for it.

II. Mention some Ceremonial observances that appear in Book I. of Edward VI. but are now absent.

12. Shew that Omission is not Prohibition; and instance some omitted Ritualisms in various parts of the Prayer Book, which have never been omitted in practice.
