The Sovereign Pontiff, Pius VII., by a rescript of the 8. Congr. of Indulgences, May 6, 1817, granted to all the faithful who, with at least contrite heart and devotion, shall say this hymn, with the anthem, versicles and prayer, in honor of S. Michael the archangel, to obtain his powerful assistance in the assaults of temptation, in life and at the hour of death:

AN INDULGENCE OF TWO HUNDRED DAYS, once a day. A PLENARY INDULGENCE, once a month, to all those who shall have said it every day, for a month, on the day when, being truly penitent, after confession and communion, they shall pray, for some time, for the intention of his Holiness.
