SECTION V. THE following Obfervations, being fome- 211, what connected with the preceding subject, may now perhaps be found not unworthy of attention. In the account given by St. John, concerning the calling of Nathanael, we read, Chap. i. ver. 47*, &c. 48. Εἶδεν ὁ Ἰησᾶς τὸν Ναθαναήλ ἐρχό μενον πρὸς αὐτὸν, καὶ λέγει περὶ αὐτῷ· Ἴδε ἀληθῶς Ισραηλίτης, ἐν ᾧ δόλος ἐκ ἔςι. 49. Λέγει αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ· Πόθεν με 212. γινώσκεις; ̓Απεκρίθη [ὁ] Ιησές, και επεν αὐτῷ· Πρὸ τῆ σε Φίλιππον φωνῆσαι, ὄντα ὑπὸ τὴν συκῆν, ἐδόν σε. 50. Καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· ̓Αμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν. Απ' ἄρτι ὄψεσθε τὸν ἐρανὸν ἀνεῳ γότα, καὶ τὲς ἀγγέλος, το Θεῦ ἀναβαίνοντας ἢ καταβαίνοντας ἐπὶ τὸν υἱὸν τὸ ἀνθρώπε. 47 or 48.
