Going, they went and wept, cafting their feed.

But returning, they shall come with joy, carrying their fheaves.

Glory be to the Father, &c.

Domine probafti me.

LORD, thou haft tried me and haft known me: thou hast known my fitting down and my rising up.

Thou haft understood my thoughts afar off: my path and my line haft thou fearched out.

And thou haft foreseen all my ways: though there is not a word on my tongue.

Behold, O Lord, thou haft known all things, new and old thou haft formed me, and haft laid thine hand upon

me.

Thy knowledge hath become too wonderful for me: it is exalted, and I cannot attain unto it.

Whither shall I go from thy fpirit? and whither fhall I flee from thy face?

If I go up into heaven, thou art there if I go down into hell, there thou art.

If in the morning I take to myself wings, and dwell in the uttermoft parts of the sea:

Even thither shall thy hand lead me and thy right hand fhall hold me.

Quia tu poffedifti renes meos: fufcepifti me de utero matris meæ.

Quia dicitis in cogitatione :

And I faid: Peradventure darkness may cover me: but night is as a light unto me in my pleasures.

For darknefs fhall not be dark unto thee, and night shall be light as the day: even as the darkness, fo alfo is the light.

For thou haft known my inmoft parts: thou haft fuftained me from my mother's womb.

I will praise thee, for thou art fearfully magnified: marvellous are thy works, and my foul knoweth it well.

My bones are not hidden from thee, which thou didft form in fecret: nor my fubftance, which thou didst make in the depths of the earth.

While as yet imperfect, thine eyes beheld me, and in thy book were all my members written: day by day were they formed, when as yet there were none of them.

But with me thy friends, O God, are exceedingly honoured: their dominion is firmly established.

I will count them, and they fhall be more in number than the fand: I have risen up, and am ftill with thee.

Wilt thou not flay the wicked, O God: ye men of blood, depart from me.

For ye fay in your thoughts:

LORD, remember David, and all his meek

How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed a vow unto the God of Jacob:

I will not enter into the tabernacle of my house; I will not go up into my bed;

I will not give fleep to my eyes; nor flumber to my eyelids;

Nor reft to my temples, until I find a place for the Lord a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

Lo, we heard of it in Ephrata: we found it in the fields of the wood.

We will go into his tabernacle: we will worship in the place where his feet have stood.

Arise, O Lord, into thy reft thou and the ark of thy holinefs.

Let thy priefts be clothed with justice: and let thy faints rejoice.

For thy fervant David's fake, turn not away the face of thine Anointed.

Quoniam elegit Dominus Sion: elegit eam in habitationem fibi.

LITTLE CHAPTER.

OCCE facerdos magnus, qui in diebus fuis placuit Deo, et inventus eft juf tus: et in tempore iracundiæ factus eft reconciliatio.

The Lord hath fworn the truth unto David, and he will not make it void: Of the fruit of thy body I will fet upon thy throne.

If thy children will keep my covenant, and these my teftimonies which I will teach them:

Their children alfo for ever fhall fit upon thy throne.

For the Lord hath chosen Sion: he hath chofen it a dwelling unto himself.

This is my reft for ever and ever: here will I dwell, for I have chofen it.

With bleffing I will bless her widows: I will fatisfy her poor with bread.

I will clothe her priests with falvation and her faints fhall rejoice with exceeding joy.

There will I bring forth a horn unto David: I have prepared a lamp for mine Anointed.

His enemies will I clothe with confufion: but upon himself shall my fanctification

flourish.

Glory be to the Father, &c.
