mond, but as being a spot of British ground
on which Julius Cæsar trod when he invaded
our island; and in after-ages for having been
the scene of St. Wilfred's labours; and af-
forded " a little earth for charity,” for the
burial of the equally pious and unfortunate
king, Henry VI.

He was born to the richest of all inheritances-learned and pious parents. His father
