Then he uncovers the chalice, genuflects, collects what ever fragments may remain on the corporal, and wipes the paten over the chalice, saying while so doing: Quid retribuam Domino pro omnibus quæ retribuit mihi? Calicem salutaris accipiam, et nomen Domini invocabo. Laudans invocabo Dominum, et ab inimicis meis salvus ero.

What shall I render to the Lord for all he hath rendered unto me? I will take the chalice of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. Praising Iwill call upon the Lord, and I shall be saved from my enemies.

He takes the chalice in his right hand, and making the sign of the Cross with it on himself, he says:
