23 Und da er das Volk von sich gelassen hatte, stieg er auf einen Berg allein, daß er betete. Und am Abend war er allein Lafelbft.

24 Und das Schiff war schon mitten auf dem Meere, und litt Noth von ben Wellen; denn der Wind war ihnen zuwider.

25 Aber in der vierten Nachtwache kam Jesus zu ihnen, und ging auf dem Meere.

26 Und da ihn die Jünger sahen auf dem Meere gehen, erschrafen sie, und sprachen: Es ist ein Gespenst; und schrieen vor Furcht.

27 Aber alsobald redete Jesus mit ihnen, und sprach: Seyd getroft, Ich bin es; fürchtet euch nicht.

28 Petrus aber antwortete ihm, und sprach Herr, bist Du es, so heiß mich zu dir kommen auf dem Wasser. 29 Und er sprach: Komm her. Petrus trat aus dem Schiffe, und ging auf dem Wasser, daß er zu Jesu käme.

Und

30 Er fah aber einen starken Wind. Da erschraf er, und hob an zu sinfen, schrie und sprach: Herr, hilf mir!

31 Jesus aber reckte bald die Hand aus, und ergriff ihn, und sprach zu ihm: du Kleingläubiger, warum zweifeltest du?

32 Und sie traten in das Schiff, und eer Wind legte sich.

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

33 Then they that were in the

34 Und sie schifften hinüber, und kamen in das Land Genezareth.

35 Und da die Leute an demselbigen Orte Seiner gewahr würden, schickten sie aus in das ganze Land umher, und brachten allerleh Ungesunde zu ihm.

36 Und baten ihn, daß sie nur seives Kleides Saum anrühreten. Und

34 ¶ And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his

fund.

CHAPTER XV.

THEN came to Jesus scribes and

ten und Pharifäer von Jerusalem

und sprachen:

2 Warum übertreten deine Jünger der Aeltesten Aufsätze? Sie waschen ihre Hände nicht, wann sie Brod essen.

3 Er antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Warum übertretet denn ihr Gottes Gebot, um eurer Aufsätze willen?

4 Gott hat geboten: Du sollst Vater und Mutter ehren; wer aber Vater und Mutter flucht, der soll des Todes sterben.

5 Aber ihr lehret: Wer zum Vater oder zur Mutter spricht: Wenn ichs opfere, so ist dirs viel nützer; der thut wohl.

6 Damit geschiehet es, daß Niemand hinfort seinen Vater oder seine Mutter ehret; und habt also Gottes Gebot aufgehoben, um eurer Aufsätze willen.

2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother let him die the death.

5 But ye say, Whosoever shal. say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tra dition.

7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

9 Aber vergeblich dienen sie mir, die weil sie lehren solche Lehren, die nichts denn Menschengebote sind.

10 Und er rief das Volk zu sich und sprach zu ihnen: Höret zu, und verneh

11 Was zum Munde eingehet, das serunreiniget den Menschen nicht; sondern was zum Munde ausgehet, das Derunreiniget den Menschen.

12 Da traten seine Jünger zu Ihm, nd sprachen: Weißest du auch, daß Ech die Pharifaer årgerten, da sie das Wort h3reten?

13 Aber er antwortete, und sprach: Alle Pflanzen, die mein hinimlischer Bater nicht gepflanzet, die werden aus gereutet

9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

10 ¶ And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended after they heard this saying?

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14 Lasset sie fahren, sie sind blinde Bliubea-Leiter; wann aber ein Blinder den andern leitet, so fallen sie beyde in Die Grube.

15 Da antwortete Petrus, und sprach zu ihm: Deute uns dieses Gleichniß.

16 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Schd hi denn auch noch unverständig? 17 Merkt ihr noch nicht, daß alles, was zum Munde eingehet, dus gehet in den Bauch, und wird durch den natürlichen Gang ausgeworfen ?

18 Was aber zum Munde heraus gehet, das kommt aus dem Herzen, und das verunreiniget den Menschen.

19 Denn aus dem Herzen kommen arge Gedanken, Mord, Ehebruch, Hurerey, Dieberey, falsche Zeugnisse, Lafterung.

20 Das sind die Stücke, die den Menschen verunreinigen. Aber mit ungewaschenen Händen effen, verunreiniget den Menschen nicht.

21 Und Jesus ging aus von dannen, und entwich in die Gegend von Thrus und Sidon.

22 Und siche, ein Cananäisches Weib ging aus derselbigen Grenze, und schrie ihm nach, und sprach Ach Herr, du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich meiner; meine Tochter wird vom Teufel übel geplagt.

23 Und Er antwortete ihr fein Wort. Da traten zu ihm seine Jünger baten ihn, und sprachen: Laß sie doch von dir, denn sie schrevet und nach.

24 Er antwortete aber, und sprach: Ich bin nicht gefandt, denn nur zu den berlornen Schafen von dem Hause Sfrael.

25 Sie tam aber, und fiel vor ihm zieber, und sprach: Herr, hilf mir! 26 Aber Er antwortete, und sprach: So ist nicht fein daß man den Kindern Ihr Brod nehme und werfe es vor die Hunde.

27 Sie sprach: Ja, Herr; aber doch effen die Hündlein von sen Brofam lein, die von ihrer Herren Tische fallen.

28 Da antwortete Jesus, und sprach

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, 1 am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, I: is not meet to take the children's bread and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord : yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said

ja thr: Weib, dein Glaube ist groß! Dir geschehe, wie du willst. Und ihre Tochter ward gesund zu derselbigen Stunde.

29 Und Jesus ging von dannen fürbaß, und fam an das galiläische Meer, and ging auf einen Berg, und setzte fich allda.

unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. 30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maim

31 Daß sich das Volk verwunderte, da fle sahen, daß die Stummen rede ten, die Krüppel gesund waren, die Lahmen gingen, die Blinden sahen; und priesen den Gott Israels.

32 Und Jesus rief seine Jünger zu sich, und sprach: Es jammert mich des Volts, denn sie nun wohl drey Tage beh mir verharren, und haben nichts zu essen; und ich will sie nicht ungegesfen von mir lassen, auf daß sie nicht verschmachten auf dem Wege

33 Da sprachen zu ihm seine Jünger: Woher mögen wir so viel Brods nehmen in der Wüste, daß wir so viel Rolfs sättigen?

34 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Wie Siele Brode habt ihr? Sie sprachen: Sieben, und ein wenig Fischlein.

35 Und er hieß das Volk sich lagern auf die Erde.

36 und nahm die sleben Brode, und die Fische, dankte, brach fle, und gab fie feinea Jüngern; und die Jünger saben sie dem Volte.

37 Und sie aßen alle, und wurden fati: und hoben auf, was überblieb con Brocken, sleben Körbe voll.

33 Und die da gegessen hatten, derer waren vier tausend Mann, ausgenommen Weiber und Kinder.

39 Und da er das Volk hatte von sich gelassen, trat er in ein Schiff, und kam in die Grenze Magdala

31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala

CHAPTER XVI.

HE Pharisees also with the Sad

cåer zu ihm; die versuchten ihn, und forderten, daß er ste ein Zeichen vom Himmel sehen ließe.

2 Aber Er antwortete und sprach: Des Abends sprçcet ihr: Es wird ein schöner Tag werden, denn der Himmel ift roth;

3 und des Morgens sprechet ihr: Es wird heute Ungewitter feyn, denn der Himmel ist roth und trübe. Ihr Heuch ler, dee Himmels Gestalt fönnet ihr beurtheilen, fönnet ihr denn nicht auch die Zeichen dieser Zeit beurtheilen? 4 Diese böse und ehebrecherische Art ucht ein Zeichen; und soll ihr fein Zeichen gegeben werden, denn das Zeichen des Propheten Jonas. Und er ließ sie, und ging davon.

5 Und da seine Jünger waren hinüber gefahren, hatten se vergessen, Brod mit sich zu nehmen.

6 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Sehet zu, und hütet euch vor dem Sauerteige der Pharisäer und Sadducäer.

7 Da dachten sie bey sich selbst, und sprachen: Das wird es seyn, daß wir nicht haben Brod mit uns genom

men.

8 Da das Jesus vernahm, sprach er zu ihnen : Ihr Kleingläubigen, was befümmert ihr euch doch, daß ihr nicht habt Brod mit euch genommen?

9 Vernehmet ihr noch nichts? Ge= deutet ihr nicht an die fünf Brode, unter die fünf tausend, und wie viele Körbe ihr da aufhobet?

10 Auch nicht an die fieben Brode, unter die vier tausend, und wie viele Körbe ihr da aufhobet?

11 Wie? verstehet ihr denn nicht, daß ich euch nicht sage vom Brod, wenn ich sage: Hütet euch vor dem Sauerteige der Pharifäer und Sadducäer?

desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky

is red.

3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to-day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6 TThen Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the lea ven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 And they reasoned among them. selves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread

8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
