to save those that were lost; give Thy grace to that he may come to the knowledge of his sin, and having Thy fear before his eyes, may put away his iniquity. Take away from him all hardness of heart, and renew a right spirit within him; that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, he may live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world, looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. of Thy Holy Church, to seek those which are lost, to bring back the wanderers, to heal the sick, to bind up the wounded; open the eyes of the blind and the ears of the deaf, that they may hear and see both the end of the errors in which they now live, and the blessings of salvation to which Thou callest them. Loosen the tongues of the dumb, that they with us, confessing and worshipping Thee with one mouth and one mind, may attain to salvation with all Thy Saints. Who livest and reignest God, world without end. Amen.

Faith.

GOD, I believe in Thee,

one God: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. I believe that Thou hast made heaven and earth, that Thou rulest all; rewarding the good and punishing the evil. I believe that Thine Only-hegotten Son Jesus Christ, for love of us, became man, died for us upon the Cross, rose again the third day from the dead, ascended into heaven, and shall come again to judge the world. I believe Him to be present in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar : I believe my soul to be immortal, and Thy grace to be necessary for the salvation of

man.

These and all other things which Thy Holy Catholic Church, which is the pillar and ground of the truth, hath declared, I firmly believe; for Thou, O God, Who art the Eternal Wisdom, and the Infallible Truth, hast revealed them, and bidden us to believe them. In this

Hope.

N Thee, O Father, rich in tenderness, Father of mercies, and God of all consolation, do I put my trust, and hope to receive from Thee, for the merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour, the pardon of all my sins, the grace to do good works, and finally the blessedness of everlasting joy; for Thou Almighty, and All-faithful God, hast promised to give us these. In this hope I desire to live and die. Amen.

Charity.

LOVE Thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart, above all created things, not only because Thou hast loved me, and justified me by Thy grace, and bestowed upon me innumerable benefits, but also especially because Thou art the highest Good, Who dost of Thyself deserve to be eternally loved. For love of Thee I also love my neighbours, both friends and enemies, as myself. In this love I desire to live and die. Amen,

MY Lord and God, I grieve for the sins of ... and for all the sins of my life, from the ground of my heart; not only because I have thereby merited temporal and eternal punishment from Thee, my most just Judge, but because I have thereby grieved Thee, O God, my highest good: I earnestly intend by Thy grace to amend my sins, and to
