O God, and this away, life too is passing away, which is no true life. And the night is drawing near, and death, and the deathless death. As the end of the day is near, so is death near; mindful of which we beseech Thee to grant us a Christian end to our time on earth. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

INTO Thy hands, O Lord, I

commend my spirit. Keep me, O Lord, as the apple of an eye: hide me under the shadow of Thy wings.

May the Lord hear us and bless us. Amen. May he defend us from our crafty enemy, and from every ill. Amen. May he keep us this

LORD, O Lord, Who deliverest us from the arrow that flieth by day; de

Grant us to pass the course of the night blamelessly, and without sin; and deliver us from every assault and deception of the Devil. Grant compunction to our souls, and to our thoughts a care of the reckoning of Thy terrible and just judgment. Restrain our flesh by Thy fear, and mortify our members which are upon the earth; that even in sleep we may be enlightened by Thy Divine judgments. Turn away from us every unbecoming thought and every hurtful desire; and raise us up again at the hour of prayer strengthened in the faith and confirmed in Thy commandments; through the lovingkindness and goodness of Thine Only-begotten Son, with Whom Thou art blessed, together with Thy all holy, good, and life-giving Spirit, now and for ever, world withAmen. out end.

Lord, have mercy upon us; have mercy upon my. relations, benefactors, and acquaintances. Have mercy upon Thy servants N.N. Have mercy upon the sick; have mercy on the oppressed; have mercy on captives: have mercy on wanderers; have mercy upon those at sea; have mercy upon those travelling by land; have niercy upon penitents; have mercy upon mourners; have mercy upon the sorrowing; have mercy upon the sinful. Christ, have mercy upon all Christians, for we are weighed down by the burdens of our sins. Forasmuch as we confess our misery to Thee, grant us to feel Thy merciful aid;

GRANT us, O Master, as

we now lie down to sleep, rest of body and soul, and preserve us from the gloomy night of sin, and from all the plea sures of darkness.

Let this day, O God, be noted in Thy book.

Do not Thou forget my prayers, nor suffer me to forget my resolutions.

For though I am weak, though am I unworthy, though I am unprofitable, yet I am Thy servant.

And here, upon my bended knees, I humbly beg of Thee, that I may live and die so.

Lord, hear my prayers, and let my cry come unto Thee.

Lord, pardon my prayers; and let not my coldness, and wanderings, and infinite unworthiness, turn them into sin.

Lord, hear my prayers; and let my cry come unto Thee. Amen. Amen.,

EVERY evening we praise

Thee and we worship Thy Name, ever world without end.

O Lord, Thou hast been our refuge from generation to generation.

I said, Lord, be merciful unto me; heal my soul, for I have sinned against Thee.

Thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever, despise not the work of Thine own hands.

Show forth Thy mercy unto them that know Thee.

Vouchsafe, O Lord, to keep us this evening without sin.

Blessed art Thou, O Lord God of our, fathers, and to be praised and exalted above all for ever. Amen.

of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men, acknowledge and bewail my manifold sins and wickednesses, which I from time 80 time most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against Thy Divine Majesty; provoking most justly Thy wrath and indignation against me. I do earnestly repent, and am heartily sorry for these my misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto me; the burden of them is intolerable. Have mercy upon me, have mercy upon me, most merciful Father. For Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, forgive me all that is past;: and grant that I may ever hereafter love and please Thee in newness of life, to the honour and glory of Thy

Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OF these and all my other

sins I most earnestly repent, and am heartily sorry for every thought, word, and deed, by which I have displeased the eye of Thy glory, and provoked Thy wrath and indignation against me; especially for my disobedience to so holy a law, and extreme ingratitude to so gracious and bountiful a God. O Lord, I acknowledge that I have not deserved the least of Thy mercies, but rather the greatest of Thy judgments; but Thou hast revealed Thyself to be a God of pity and compassion, forgiving the iniquities of such as truly repent; and absolving those that voluntarily condemn themselves. Wherefore with a penitent and contrite heart I freely confess the guiltiness of my own conscience, and humbly pray for Thy pardon; through Jesus Christ our

Lord. Amen.

MOST High and Holy

Trinity, Thou Who art, blessed and unchangeable, light, intelligence, beauty ever to be desired, fount of life and immortality, abyss of mercy

and goodness, I pray Thee and implore Thee, God by Thy Holy Trinity and Unity, give my mind understanding, my heart compunction, my mouth the words of wisdom, that I may worthily magnify Thy most glorious Name. Thee I praise Who art believed in and adored, Three persons in one God. I worship Thee in Thine unfathomable power, Thine unutterable wisdom, Thine absolute goodness, creating, sustaining, and preserving all created things. I give thanks to Thee, O Father, Who art of none; I give thanks to Thee, O Son, Only-begotten; coeternal with the Father; I give thanks to Thee, O Holy Spirit, all holy and all good; that Thou hast brought me out of nothing into being, and hast given me an understanding mind, and whatsoever else I have. I thank Thee for that Thou by Thy Divine grace hast preserved me when I was dead in sins, and hast dispersed the deep darkness of my mind, and that Thou hast given me the necessaries of life in abundance. Therefore I offer myself to Thee with all my heart, placing all my hope and trust in Thee, O God of all.
