For the Sick Person, if insensible.

LORD, look down from Heaven in much pity and compassion on this Thy afflicted servant, who is not able now to look up to 'l hee; and hear, O most merciful Father, our prayers in hs behalf. Pardon, good Lord, pardon all his sins, impute not to him any of his former follies. Lay not to his charge bis not improving, or in any way misusing his reason and understanding. We earnestly but humbly entreat Thee to restore them both to him again, together with such a measure of Thy Divine grace as may quicken and assist bim to employ his thoughts to the best purposes: that be

may trust Thee and sincerely obey Thee. And while be remains thus deprived of his reason, be pleased to quiet and compose his spirits. Remove all frighful imaginations from him: suffer not the evil one to approach him: preserve him from doing harm to himself. Thou art our Helper and our Redeemer; make no long tarrying, O our God: despise not Thou the work of Thine own hands, but help us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For the Dying.

1.

LORD JESU CHRIST

by Thy most sacred agony and prayer, which Thou didst pray for us in the garden, when Thy sweat was, as it were, great drops of blood falling down upon the ground,

implore Thee, offer unto Thy Father Almighty the bitter pains of Thy Passion borne for us, in atonement for all the sins of Thy servant, and deliver him at the hour of his death from all the pain and suffering he has endured for his sins; Who livest and reignest God, world without end, Amen.

II.

LORD JESU CHRIST,

Who for our sake didst

die upon the Cross, I beseech Thee offer unto Thine Almighty Father, for the soul of this Thy servant, all the bitter sufferings and pains which Thou didst bear upon the Cross for us poor sinners, especially at that moment when Thy most holy soul went forth from Thy sacred Body; and deliver him at the hour of his death from all the pain and suffering be has deserved for his sins; Who livest and reignest God, world without end.

III.

Amen.

LORD JESU CHRIST, Who by the mouth of Thy prophet hast said, I have loved Thee with an everlasting love, therefore with mercy have I drawn Thee, I pray Thee that Thou wouldest offer to Thy Almighty Father that same love of Thine which drew Thee down from heaven to earth, to suffer Thy bitter sorrows and griefs, for the soul of this Thy servant, and deliver him from all the pains and sufferings which he fears that he has merited for his sins. Deliver his soul in the

hour of his departure hence, open unto him the gates of life, and make him to rejoice with all Thy Saints in everlasting glory. O most merciful Saviour, Who hast redeemed us with Thy precions Blood, have mercy upon the soul of Thy servant, and bring him into the ever bright and g'orious places of Paradise, that he may live to Thee in indissoluble love, and never more be parted from Thee and Thine elect; Who livest and reignest God, world without end. Amen.

ALMIGHTY Everlasting

God, Who givest us both the medicine of salvation and the reward of everlasting life, look mercifully upon Thy servant in his now failing strength, and refresh and strengthen the soul which Thou hast created; that at the hour of his departure he may, by the hands of Thy holy Angels, be presented to Thee, his Creator, pure from every stain of sin; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
