forted me; for Thou art the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. Great is Thy pity, O Lord, and great are Thy mercies.

I will sacrifice unto Thee with the voice of thanksgiving: I will exalt Thee, and give thanks unto Thy Name: I will rejoice in Thy mercy.

Renerval of Good Intention. BEHOLD, I am

made

whole. I will strive to sin no more. I have washed my garments in the Blood of the Lamb; how shall I again pollut them. Having received mercy, I will not again forget Thee, my Saviour, but will remember the lovingkindness of the Lord.

I PRAISE Thee, O Jesu

Christ, my Lord and Master, with all my heart. I bow down my body and soul to Thee. I acknowledge before Thee my sins, O my God. Accept my prayer, and grant me sorrow for mine offences, that I may bewail myself now, and not mourn in vain for ever. For I have been guilty of every sort of sin. I have polluted my body and soul, and as often as I have promised repentance, so often have I re

lapsed into sin. It were easier to number the drops of rain than to number my sins. For

have polluted and injured my every power, and even my conscience. One only refuge have, O Lord, Thy mercy. Wherefore I pray Thee, of Thine exceeding goodness, to forgive me each and all of my many offences, which I have committed in my whole life, every one of which is plain to Thine all-seeing eye; Who livest and reignest God, world without end. Amen.

I

THANK Thee, O Lord Jesu Christ, my God and Saviour, long suffering and of great mercy, ever bearing with our iniquities, and rejoicing over one sinner that repenteth: I thank Thee for that Thou hast shown mercy, and stretched out Thy hand to me, and visited me, Thy lowly and unworthy servant, who have received innumerable benefits at Thine hand, and have foolishly despised them all. I had wandered away from Thee, and provoked Thee times without number: I had dishonoured Thee by the transgression of Thy holy commandments: I had gone down to the depths of sin, and Thou hast again cleansed me and made me fit

to come and worship before the Throne of Thy mercy; Thou hast granted me to ask and to receive forgiveness of my sins, and to be numbered again amongst Thine elect. I thank Thee, O God, for that Thou hast not forgotten me in my loneliness, and hast not abhorred me in my uncleanness, but hast received and' welcomed me the lost one. I beseech Thee, therefore, of Thine ineffable goodness to strengthen me for the future by the grace of Thy all Holy Spirit, to resist the world, the flesh, and the Devil, and every form of sin. Lighten the eyes of my mind, that I may walk in the path of Thy commandments, and spend the rest of my life peacefully and sincerely, and finally, after this life, may come to Thee, my God and Saviour, to praise Thee and bless Thee for ever. Amen.

LORD, most righteous Judge, I know that in times past the sword of Thy justice hath many times smitten sinners on a sudden for their evil passions, because they would not submit themselves to Thy commands; being drawn neither by Thine ineffable goodness, nor by the

chastisements of Thy wrath; and that these are now justly doomed to hell, in great crying and tears, without being able to find comfort or help. I have surpassed them in transgressions, and yet, lest I should suffer like torments, Thou hast spared me so long a time, and hast not destroyed me, but sufferest me still to live that I may turn and repent. What thanks do I owe Thee, O my God, Who hast borne with me even until this day! have appeared before Thee again to confess my sins, and to desist from them by Thy help, and to turn to virtue, to the best of my ability. How sweet were the words of Thy Priest in my ears, saying unto me, "I absolve Thee of all Thy sins!" O most blessed Word of comfort! O most desirable grace which I have this day received! What shall I give to Thee, O God, for so great grace? How

can I thank Thee as I ought? Not only my strength fails, but words, and thought, and all I have fail for an offering of sufficient thanks. I have the will alone, by which, with Thy help, O my God, I hope to do that which is pleasing unto Thee. Therefore, O my Creator, I present before Thee

this day, that which I implore Thee to accept as one continual sacrifice, the resolution which I now make. I desire perfectly to fulfil, and to keep stedfastly and faithfully the things which my ghostly father has this day enjoined upon me. Firstly. To keep my rules more watchfully so far as I am able. Secondly. Not to fall back into my old sins, but to hate them with a

TERNAL Father of the Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Who art the Creator of all things, and Lord of all that Thou hast made, I give Thee thanks with all my heart, and with all my strength, for that Thou, without any merit on my part, and moved only by Thine own mercy, didst vouchsafe to cleanse me in that sacred stream which flowed from the side of Thy Son, washing away in Holy Baptism all the stains of my soul, and delivering me from death and hell, and from all my foes, making me Thy dwelling-place, and a tabernacle of the most Holy Trinity, giving me the spirit of adoption whereby i am numbered among Thy children, bestowing upon me the graces recessary for my vocation, and the gift of the Holy Ghost, endu ing me with strength to live

pleasingly in Thy sight, and giving me power to resist my ghostly enemy, and to attain to that eternal blessedness which Thou didst create me to inherit. What thanks can I give Thee, O Lord, Who hast chosen me for Thine own when so many wander in darkness, serving strange gods, and beasts and stones? All thanksgiving, glry and praise be to Thee, O most merciful God, Who hast given me a part and lot in Thy Kingdom of Heaven, in Thy Holy Church, in the mansions of Thy children. Grant me, O

merciful Father, so rightly to use that heavenly grace, that Thy mercies may not be spent in vain on me, nor my final lot be worse than that of those who have not known Thee. Remember them also, O Creator of the souls of men, according to Thy great mercy, Who hast remembered me, the last and least of all; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Anniversary of Baptism. LORD, Heavenly Father, Almighty and Everlasting God, Who of Thine infinite goodness towards me when I was born in sin, and

was no other than an heir of everlasting wrath, didst vouchsafe that I should, as upon this day, he born again of water and the Holy Ghost, in the blessed laver of baptism, being thereby made a member of Christ and an heir of eternal life. For this Thine inestimable favour I do here gratefully commemorate that happy day, and in most humble and hearty wise I do extol the abundant riches of Thy glorious grace, in Thy sight, and in the sight of Thy holy angels, with all the company of heaven: renewing that sacred vow which was then made in my name, to forsake this wicked world, ad to live as a Christian ought to do, in obedience to Thy holy faith and commandments; most humbly beseeching Thee, of Thy great mercy, to pardon me all former breaches of my solemn promise, and to endue me so with the assistance of Thy Holy Spirit, that henceforth I may walk in newness of life, worthy of that blessed estate whereunto Thou hast called me: and keeping myself unspotted of the world, the flesh, and the Devil, may daily die unto sin, for which cause I was baptized into the Death of Christ; and, as I have had my part this day in the
