LESSON I. Luke i.

The Angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a Virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David: and the virgin's name was Mary : and the Angel having entered, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women. But thou, O Lord, have mercy on us. Ry. Thanks be to God.

Ry. The Angel Gabriel was sent to the Virgin Mary, espoused to Joseph, to announce to her the divine message: but the light of his countenance affrighted the sacred Virgin. Do not fear, Mary; thou hast found grace with the Lord. Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bring forth one who shall be called the Son of the Most High.
