*

Quámdiu ponam consilia in ánima mea, dolórem in corde meo per diem ?

Usquequo exaltábitur inimicus meus super me? réspice, et exáudi me, Dómine Deus meus.

Illúmina oculos meos, ne umquam obdormiam in morte: nequándo dicat inimícus meus: Præválui advérsus eum.

Qui tríbulant me, exaltábunt, si motus fúero:* ego

autem in misericórdia tua sperávi.

Exultábit cor meum in salutári tuo: cantábo Dómino, qui bona tribuit mihi :* et psallam nómini Dómini altíssimi.

Glória Patri.

PSALM XII.

1 How long, O Lord, wilt thou forget me unto the end how long dost thou turn away thy face from me?

2 How long shall I take counsels in my soul: and sorrow in my heart all the day?

3 How long shall my enemy be exalted over me: consider and hear me, O Lord my God.

4 Enlighten my eyes, that I may never sleep in death: lest at any time my enemy say, I have prevailed against him.

5 They that troubled me will rejoice when I am moved: but I have trusted in thy mercy.

6 My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation; I will sing to the Lord, who giveth me good things: yea, I will sing to the name of the Lord the Most High. Glory, &c.

PSALM XLII.

1 Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy: deliver me from the unjust and deceitful

man.

Quia tu es Deus fortitúdo mea: quare me repulísti, et quare tristis incédo, dum affligit me inimícus?

Emítte lucem tuam, et veritátem tuam : * ipsa me deduxérunt, et adduxérunt in montem sanctum tuum, et in tabernácula tua.

Et introíbo ad altáre Dei:* ad Deum, qui lætíficat juventútem meam.

Confitébor tibi in cíthara, Deus, Deus meus: * quare tristis es ánima mea, et quare contúrbas me?

Spera in Deo, quóniam adhuc confitébor illi,* salutáre vultus mei, et Deus

2 For thou, O God, art my strength: why hast thou cast me off? and why do I go sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me?

3 Send forth thy light and thy truth they have conducted me and brought me unto thy holy mount, and into thy tabernacles.

4 And I will go unto the altar of God: to God, who giveth joy to my youth.

5 I will praise thee on the harp, O God, my God: why art thou sorrowful, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me?

6 Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him: who is the salvation of my countenance, and my God.

Glory, &c.

PSALM CXXVIII.

1 Many a time have they fought against me from my youth let Israel now say.

2 Many a time have they fought against me from my youth up: but they could not prevail against me.

3 The wicked have wrought upon my back: and prolonged their iniquity.

4 The just Lord hath hewn asunder the necks of sinners: let all them be confounded and turned back, that have hated Sion.

5 Let them be as grass upon

Gentlest of the gentle !
Chaste and gentle make us.

Till with thee and Jesus
We rejoice for ever.
Through the highest heaven,
To the Almighty Three,
Father, Son, and Spirit,
One same glory be.

Amen. V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

Ant. We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God: despise not our petitions in our necessities ; but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
