of death to direct our feet into the way of peace.

Glory, &c.

At Benedictus.

Ant. O glorious Mother of God, Mary ever Virgin, who alone hast merited to bear the Lord of all things, and to nourish from thy virginal breast the King of Angels; remember us graciously, we beseech thee, and ever intercede for us with Christ; that, supported by thy patronage, we may deserve to arrive at the kingdom of heaven.

Prayer.

O God, who wast pleased that thy Word, at the message of an angel, should take flesh in the womb of the blessed Virgin Mary; grant to us, thy suppliants, that, as we believe her to be truly the Mother of God, so we may be assisted by her intercessions with thee. Through the same Christ our Lord. Ry. Amen.

Ant. O Virgin Mary, there hath not in the world, amongst women, one arisen like unto thee; blooming as the rose, fragrant as the lily: pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

V. Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O sacred Virgin.

Ry. Give me strength against thy enemies.

2 O Lord, hear my prayer: and hearken to the words of my mouth.

3 For strangers have risen up against me, and the mighty have sought after my soul: and they have not set God before their eyes.

4 Behold, God is my helper: and the Lord upholdeth my soul.

5 Turn back the evil upon mine enemies: and destroy them in thy truth.

6 Freely will I sacrifice unto thee and will praise thy name, O Lord, for it is good.

7 For thou hast delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath looked down upon mine enemies.

Glory, &c.

PSALM CXVI.

1 Praise the Lord, all ye gentiles praise him, all ye people.

2 For his mercy is confirmed upon us and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Glory, &c.

PSALM CXV1I.

1 Give praise to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Let Israel now say, that he

niam bonus: * quóniam in | is good: that his mercy endureth sæculum misericórdia ejus. for ever.

Dicat nunc domus Aaron:* quóniam in sæculum misericórdia ejus.

Dicant nunc qui timent Dóminum:

quóniam in sæculum misericórdia ejus.

Omnes gentes circuiérunt me:* et in nómine Dómini, quia ultus sum in eos.

Circumdántes circumdedérunt me: et in nómine Dómini, quia ultus sum in

eos.

Circumdedérunt me sicut apes, et exarsérunt sicut ignis in spinis:* et in nómine Dómini, quia ultus sum in

eos.

Impúlsus evérsus sum ut cáderem: et Dóminus suscépit me.

3 Let the house of Aaron now say: that his mercy endureth for

ever.

4 Let them that fear the Lord now say that his mercy endureth for ever.

5 In my trouble I called upon the Lord: and the Lord heard me, and enlarged me.

6 The Lord is my helper: I will not fear what man can do

unto me.

7 The Lord is my helper: and I will look over my enemies.

8 It is good to trust in the Lord: rather than to have confidence in man.

9 It is good to trust in the Lord: rather than to have confidence in princes.

10 All nations compassed me about and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged upon them.

11 Surrounding me they compassed me about: and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged upon them.

12 They surrounded me like bees, and they burned like fire among thorns: and in the name of the Lord I was revenged upon them.

13 Being pushed, I was overturned that I might fall: but the Lord upheld me.

Fortitudo mea, et laus mea Dóminus:* et factus est mihi in salútem.

Vox exultaciónis, et salútis:* in tabernáculis justó

rum.

Déxtera Dómini fecit virtútem: déxtera Dómini exaltávit me; déxtera mini fecit virtútem.

14 The Lord is my strength and my praise: and he is become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and of salvation: is in the tabernacles of the just.

16 The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength: the right Dó-hand of the Lord hath exalted me; the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength.

Non móriar, sed vivam :* et narrábo ópera Dómini.

Castígans castigávit me .Dóminus: * et morti non trádidit me.

17 I shall not die, but live : and shall declare the works of the Lord.

18 The Lord chastising hath chastised me: but he hath net delivered me over to death.

Aperíte mihi portas justí- 19 Open ye to me the gates of tiæ, ingréssus in eas confi-justice; I will go into them, and

tébor Dómino:* hæc porta Dómini, justi intrábunt in

eam.

Confitébor tibi quóniam exaudísti me:* et factus es mihi in salútem.

Lápidem, quem reprobavérunt ædificántes: * hic factus est in caput ánguli.

A Dómino factum est istud:* et est mirábile in óculis nostris.

Hæc est dies, quam fecit Dóminus exultémus, et

lætémur in ea.

O Dómine, salvum me fac: O Dómine, bene prosperáre: *benedíctus, qui venit in nómine Dómini.

give praise to the Lord: this is the gate of the Lord, the just shall enter into it.

20 I will give glory to thee because thou hast heard me: and art become my salvation.

21 The stone which the builders rejected: the same is become the head of the corner.

22 This is the Lord's doing: and it is wonderful in our eyes.

23 This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us be glad and rejoice therein.

24 O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success: blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
