16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

18 For I know that 'in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing : for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19 For the good that I would I do not : but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22 For I '"delight in the law of God after the I inward man :

23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into *captivity to the law of sin which is in

my members.

and the Spirit against the flesh : and these are contrary the one to the other : so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. See on Mat. vii. 23.

CHAP. VIII. THERE is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

CHAP. VIII. * John, iii. 18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. b Ver. 4. GAL. v. 16, 25: Walk in the Spirit, and ye

shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Acts, xiii. 39 : And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Rom. iii. 20 : Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. GAL. iv. 9 : How turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements ? Heb.vii. 18, 19: There is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh :

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, h who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are i after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the kthings of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded 3 is death ; but to be spiritually minded“ is life and

peace. 7 Because the carnal minds is enmity against God : for it is not subject to the law of God, "neither indeed can be.

God hath done, sending. We. 2 by a sacrifice for sin. A. V. the minding of the flesh. So ver. 7. A. V. * Gr. the minding of the spirit. A. V. 5 Gr. the minding of the flesh. A. V. unto God. do. x, 1, 2, 4, 10, 14: For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered ? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take

away sins. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

GAL. iii. 13: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us : for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. Ver. 1. 1 Cor. ii. 14. See on John, iii. 6.

Gal. v. 22, 25: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, &c. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

11 But if the Spirit of him that ? raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also * quicken your ther can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

If any man defile the temple of God, hin shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. do. vi. 19: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God?' 2 Cor. vi. 16: What agreementhath the temple of God with idols ? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Eph. ii. 21, 22 : In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord : in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. 1 Tim. iii. 15 : That thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the Church of the living God. Heb. iji. 6: Christ as a son over his own house ; whose house are we. 1 Pet. ii. 5: Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house. John, iii. 24 : He that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. do. iv. 13 : Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

P John, ii. 34: God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. GAL. iv. 6 : Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts. 15 For ye have * not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the a Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
