and Fire of Love, that I may know and do Thy Will.

Thou art the Lamb of GOD, the Lamb without blemish and without spot, That takest away the sins of the world; take away from me whatever hurteth and displeaseth Thee, and give me what is pleasing unto Thee, and good for my own soul. A Prayer for Thyself.

LORD, I believe, but would believe more

firmly. I hope, O LORD, but would hope more securely. O LORD, I love, but yet would love more warmly. I grieve, O LORD, but yet would grieve more deeply.

By Thy Wisdom Thou direct me, by Thy righteousness Thou keep me, by Thy sweet mercy comfort and protect me.

I offer unto Thee, my GOD, my thinkings, that they may be towards Thee; my sayings, that they may be of Thee; my doings, that they may

be according to Thee; my sufferings, that they may be for Thee.

I pray Thee, O LORD, that Thou wouldest give to my understanding enlightenment, to my will fervency, to my body purity, to my soul holiness.

Grant me grace to cleanse my memory, to check my tongue, refrain my eyes, restrain my

senses.

Grant me, Good LORD, love of Thee, hatred of self, love of my neighbour, contempt of the world. Let me study to obey superiors, to help inferiors, to serve my friends, to envy no man.

Let me keep in mind, O JESUS, Thy precept and example, by loving mine enemies, by patiently suffering wrong, by doing good to those that persecute me, by praying for those that falsely speak evil against me.

Let me overcome love of pleasure by selfdenial, love of money by freely giving, heat of temper by gentleness, lukewarmness by earnest

ness.

Make me prudent in counsel, steadfast in danger, patient in adversity, humble in prosperity.

Grant me, O LORD, to be instant in prayer, temperate in meat and drink, diligent in duty, unwavering in purpose.

Let me learn from Thee, O GOD, how little is all that is earthly, how great all that is heavenly, how short all that is of time, how lasting all that is of eternity.

HOW the thought of GOD attracts
And draws the soul from earth,

ALMIGHTY GOD and Heavenly FATHER, I return Thee thanks and praises for all Thy mercies vouchsafed unto me, and particularly for the opportunity which Thou hast this day given me of receiving that Holy Sacrament which Thy SON JESUS CHRIST has appointed in memorial of His Death and Sufferings, and for the spiritual nourishment and support of our souls.

I confess, O LORD, that I have not received It with a suitable degree of love and devotion towards Thee, nor am I sufficiently sensible of the greatness of those blessings which the performance of this duty has called to my remembrance.
