The Manual is for the use of Masters of Ceremonies and for all others that assist at Pontifical Functions. In its compilation I have followed Martinucci's "Manuale Sacrarum Caeremoniarum", except. where Decrees of the Sacred Congregation of Rites decreed differently.

RECEPTION OF A BISHOP.
It need scarcely be mentioned, that, when the Bishop pays an official visit to a parish, the church and surroundings should be properly decorated, and that the parishioners should be at hand to welcome the Bishop and to receive his blessing.
Things to be prepared.
On the Altar the Missal opened at the page containing the Oration of the Saint to whom the church is dedicated. Before the Altar a priedieu for the Bishop.
In the vestibule of the church a strip of carpet and a cushion.
