35 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life and he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of Goi abideth on him. CHAP. IV.

WHEN therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that

Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

3 He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.

4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his jour ney, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

9 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? (for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.)

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me, to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thist again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, Dether come hither to draw.

Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy Bustard, and come father.

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, 1 perceive that thou art a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusa lem is the place where men ought to worship.

91 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, telieve me, the Lour cometh, when e shail neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22 Ye worship ye know not what we know what we worship; for salvation is of the Jews.

23 But the hear cometh, and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spuit and in truth. for the Father secheth such te wership him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth.

25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, le will tell us all things.

26 Jesus saith unto her, 1 that speak unto thee am he.

27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no inan said, What seekest thou? or, Why talest thou with her?

29 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the cny, and saith to the men,

29 Come, see a man which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto bitn.

31 in the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?

34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal, that both he that soweth and be that reapeth may rejoice together

37 And herein is that saving true, One soweth, and another reaseth.

38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other mea laboured, and ye are entered into their

labours.

ST. JOHN. saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he aoode there two days.

41 And many more believed, because of his own word,

42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own Country.

7 The impotent man answered him. Sir, I have no man, when the water s troubled, to put me into the pool: bu while I am coming, another steppet down before me.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take m thy bed, and walk.

46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that Le would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. 49 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe

40 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

51 And as he was now going down, mts servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth."

59 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto Lim, Yesterday at the sevento aour the fever left him.

53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son haseth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judea into Gailee.

13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyer himself away, a multitude being i that place.

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Be hold, thou art made whole: sin n more, lest a worse thing come un thee.

15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus which had made him whole.

16 And therefore did the Jews pe secute Jesus, and sought to slay bu because he had done these things c the sabbath-day.

17 But Jesus answered them. Mr. Father worketh bitoerto, and i wcr.. 18 Therefore the Jews sought t more to kill him, because he not on bad broken the sabbath, but said a that God was his Father, making hinself equal with God.

10 Then answered Jesus, and si unto them, Verily, verily, I say e you, The Son can do nothing of hit(self, but what he seeth the Father o for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

35 He was a burning and a shining light and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in bis light.

36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father bath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

39 And ye have not his word abiding in you for whom he bath sent, him ye believe not.

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that acruseth you, even Moses in whom ye

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me for he wrote of me.

4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him; for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two bundred pennyworth of bread is not suthcient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

s One of his disciples, Andrew, Si mon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which th five barley loaves, and two small fishes; but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place so the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, be distri buted to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

1 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the tragments of the live barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that bad eaten.

14 Then those men, when they bad seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that Prophet that should come into the world.

16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea towards Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

20 But he saith unto them It is I: be not afraid.

1Then they willingly received fm into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they

went.

28 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias, nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks :)

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither is disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 And when they had found him) on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when cainest thou

65 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
