20 And the LORD hearkened o to Heze. kiah, and healed the people.

21 And the children of Israel that were present 3 at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with 5 lond instruments unto the LORD.

22 And Hezekiah spake 6 comfortably unto all the Levites that r taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace-offerings, and making u confession to the LORD God of their fathers.

23 And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days: and they kept other seven days with gladness.

24 For Hezekiah king of Judah did 8 give to the congregation a thousand Lullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bul locks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

25 And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that caine out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.

26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

27 Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling-place, even unto heaven. CHAP. XXXI. NOW when all this was finished, all Israel that were 2 present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the 3 images in pieces, f and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars gout of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh; until 4 they had utterly destroyed them all. CHAP. XXXII.

AFTER n these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to 4 win them for himself. 2 And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that 5 he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

3 He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters q of the fountains which were without the city; and they did help him.

4 So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water? 5 Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the walls that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo u in the city of David, and made 8 darts and shields in abundance.

6 And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake 1 comfortably to them, saying, 7 Be w strong and courageous, be x not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there y be more with us than with him.

8 With him is an z arm of flesh: but with us a is the LORD our God, to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested 3 themselves upon the b words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

9 After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his 4 power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,

10 Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the 7 siege in Jerusalem?

11 Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

12 Hath not the sare Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and
