where thieves do not break through and steal. Matt. vi. 19, 20.

Grant us, O LORD, so to be on earth the faithful stewards of Thy SON, and so to have our heart in heaven where He our treasure is, that at His coming again He may receive His own with usury, and commit unto our trust the true riches, even the unsearchable riches of His grace and glory, in Whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

WHATSOEVER ye would that men

should do unto you, even so do

unto them for this is the Law and the Prophets. St. Matth. vii. 12.

Fix in my heart and mind, O LORD, the memory of all that the Son of Man, to Whom the Law and the Prophets bear witness, hath done for me, a thankless sinner, that I may go and do likewise, as He shall teach and enable me, to all whom He has made my brethren in Him,

NOT every one that saith unto Me, LORD,

LORD,shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My FATHER which is in heaven. St. Matth. vii. 21.

O LORD JESU CHRIST, the LORD Whose ways are right, keep us in Thy mercy from lip

service and empty forms; from having a name that we live, but being dead. Help us to worship Thee by righteous deeds, and lives of holiness; that our prayer also may be set forth in Thy sight as the incense, and the lifting up our hands be as an evening sacrifice.

ACCHEUS stood forth, and said unto the LORD, Behold, LORD, the half of my goods I give to the poor: and if I have done any wrong to any man, I restore fourfold. St. Luke xix. 8.

O LORD GOD, Who art at once love and righteousness, pour these same graces into my heart, that I may be both charitable and just, and if it chance that I at any time be unable to see my duty, grant me, like Zacchæus, so to ascend the Cross, that I may behold JESUS, and so learn what I am to do; for His sake, Who from that Cross preaches unto

me.

WHO goeth a warfare at any time of

his own cost? Who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? Or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? 1 Cor. ix. 7.

Thou, O LORD JESU, hast fought the battle at Thy sole cost for me. Thou hast pressed grapes of Thine own vineyard, not for Thy

the

self, but to give me drink. Thou hast fed me, Thy sheep, with heavenly pasture. Make me so grateful for these Thy bounties, that I may gladly spend and be spent for Thee and Thine.

IF F we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your worldly things? 1 Cor. ix. 11.

O LORD, Who givest Heaven for earth, teach me to give earth for heaven, and gladly to minister to those who are vowed to Thy service, that in so doing even to the least of Thy brethren, I may do it unto Thee.

Do ye not know, that they who minister

about holy things live of the sacrifice : and they who wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the LORD also ordained, that they who preach the Gospel should live of the Gospel. ix. 13, 14.

1 Cor.

Make me, O LORD, so to love the habitation of Thine house, and the place where Thine honour dwelleth, that with a perfect heart I may offer willingly unto Thee.

e;

HE E that soweth little shall reap little and he that soweth plenteously shall reap plenteously. Let every man do accord

ing as he is disposed in his heart, not grudg ingly, or of necessity; for GOD loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Cor. ix. 6, 7.

Grant us, O LORD, cheerfully to give up our will and our all to do Thy pleasure, that when the earth is ripe and Thine angel putteth the sickle in, we may joy before Thee according to the joy of harvest.

ET him that is taught in the Word minister unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived, GOD is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap. Gal- vi. 6, 7.

Grant, O LORD, to the faithful stewards of Thy mysteries, that we, and all those whom they instruct, may give them the best reward of a teacher, by following their precepts in pureness of faith and holiness of life.

W

HILE we have time, let us do good unto all men; and specially unto them that are of the household of faith. Gal. vi. 10.

O LORD, grant that Thy servants who are gathered together in Thy Name, and who eat of the same Bread, may with one mind together provoke one another to love and to good works, that by their holy conversation the sweet savour of CHRIST may be shed abroad.

GOD

ODLINESS is great riches, if a man be content with that he hath for we brought nothing into the world, neither may we carry any thing out. 1 Tim. vi. 6, 7.

O LORD JESU CHRIST, Who wast before all worlds, and art the Father of the world to come, give me Thyself only, the true riches, that I may be 'satisfied therewith for ever

more.

CHAR

YHARGE them who are rich in this world, that they be ready to give, and glad to distribute; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may attain eternal life. 1 Tim. vi. 17-19.

O GOD, Who requitest all good works, repay much for little to them who gladly bestow their alms, and grant unto them eternal blessings for earthly gifts.

OD is not unrighteous, that He will for

GOD

get your works, and labour that proceedeth of love; which love ye have showed for His Name's sake, who have ministered unto the saints, and yet do minister. Heb. vi. 10.
