Our faith adores Thy bleeding love,
And trusts for life in One that died ;
We hope for heavenly crowns above,
From a Redeemer crucified.

Let the vain world pronounce it shame,
And fling their scandals on the cause ;
We come to boast our Saviour's name,
And make our triumphs in His Cross.

With joy we tell the scoffing age,

He that was dead has left His tomb : He lives above their utmost rage,

And we are waiting till He come.

N.B. Before the Service begins, recal to mind the special "intention” with which you have determined to offer the Sacrifice to GOD the FATHER. Also if you have time, you may say any of the earlier preparatory devotions, especially those on pages 10-18.

DO NOT LOOK ABOUT YOU.

As the Priest goes up to the Altar, say,

Grant us, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that with our hearts sprinkled and purged from all evil conscience, we may be worthy to ascend to Thy Holy of Holies in the Highest, and standing chastely and purely before Thy sacred

Altar as kings and priests unto Thee, may in true faith offer unto Thee reasonable and spiritual sacrifices, through JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

When the Priest stands in front of the Altar before the service begins, say Psalm xliii.

Give sentence with me, O GOD, and defend my cause against the ungodly people: O deliver me from the deceitful and wicked man.

For Thou art the GOD of my strength, why hast thou put me from Thee: and why go I so heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?

O send out Thy light and Thy truth, that they may lead me and bring me unto Thy holy hill, and to Thy dwelling.

And that I may go unto the altar of GOD, even unto the GOD of my joy and gladness: and upon the harp will I give thanks unto Thee, O GOD, my GOD.

Why art thou so heavy, O my soul: and why art thou so disquieted within me ?

O put thy trust in GOD: for I will yet give Him thanks, which is the help of my countenance, and my GOD.

Glory, &c.

UR Father. Which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation : But deliver us from evil. Amen.

COLLECT.

A

LMIGHTY GOD, unto Whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from Whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy HOLY SPIRIT, that we may perfectly love Thee, and worthily magnify Thy holy Name; through CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

O LORD GOD Almighty, Who by Thine only begotten Son hast taught us that he who hath the commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Him, and shall abide in His love, and shall be loved of Thee, His heavenly Father: Grant that He who loves me may, according His most true promise, manifest Himself unto me in this Holy Sacrament of His love. Through the same JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

GOD

Minister.

OD spake these words, and said: I am the LORD thy GOD: Thou shalt have none other gods but Me.

People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minister. Thou shalt not make to thyself any graven image, nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor worship them: for I the LORD thy GoD am a jealous GOD, and visit the sins of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me, and shew mercy unto thousands in them that love Me, and keep My commandments.

People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minister. Thou shalt not take the Name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless, that taketh His Name in vain.

People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minister. Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath-day. Six days shalt thou

labour, and do all that thou hast to do: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy GOD. In it thou shalt do no manner of work, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, thy cattle, and the stranger that is within thy gates. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day wherefore the LORD blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it.

:

People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minister. Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long in the land which the LORD thy GOD giveth thee. People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minister. Thou shalt do no murder. People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.

Minister. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law. Minister. Thou shalt not steal.

People. LORD, have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to keep this law.
