of those who had been tested by both scales there were 103 who were American born children of American born parents. The records of these children were distributed according to the I. Q. on the National Intelligence Tests A and B combined, and also
on the Kelley-Trabue Completion Alpha. The results are shown on Chart 2. The mental ages, represented by the base lines are drawn parallel. The frequencies are represented in units of 3 to each square of one-fourth inch. Comparison of these distributions with those of Chart 1 emphasizes their sig. nificance. It will be seen that although the median mental age of the entire group as shown on Chart 1 is 11 years 3 months, according to the Language Completion Scale in contrast to 12 years 1 month on the Non-Language Scale, and 12 years 212 months on the National Intelligence Scale, the group of American born children of American born parents has a median mentil age of 12 years 10 months on the Language Completion Scale, in agreement with 13 years 0 months on the National Intelligence Tests. The greater variability found in the distribution according to the scores in Language Completion Scale made by children who represent the second generation in America may be due to the continued use of the Italian Language in some of the homes.

I have just received a copy of the UNGRADED for March, 1922, and I am surprised to find in it an article on the Prevention of Mental Disorders, purported to have been written by me. I have never submitted a manuscript of such an article for publication in the UNGRADED. I am assuming that someone who was present at a lecture I gave some months ago in the building of the Academy of Medicine took down some of my remarks and made an article out of them.
Many of the things were taken down incorrectly, but even if my lecture had been reported verbatim, I should still have preferred that it be not published. It is against my practice to publish extemporaneous lectures or remarks without first revising and preparing them for publication.
I am sure that in the future you will not allow anyone on your editorial staff to publish anything under my name in that way, and I am sure that in justice to me you will print this letter in the next issue of the UNGRADED, in order to explain how this article came to be published as mine.
In the future, as in the past, I should be glad to contribute articles to the
