I will praise the Lord with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving this also shall please the Lord better than an ox, &c.-Ps. lxix. 30, 31.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb my praise shall be continually of thee, &c. My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness, and thy salvation all the day.-Ps. lxxi. 6. 15. 24.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord; and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: to shew forth thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.-Ps. xcii. 1, 2.

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation: let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, &c.Ps. xcv. 1,2. xcvi. 1, 2. c. 1, 2.

Sing unto the Lord a new song, for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand and his holy arm hath gotten him the victory, &c.-Ps. xcviii. 1,2. cv.

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me bless his holy name, &c. and forget not all his benefits. Who forgiveth all thy iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases, &c.-Ps. ciii. 1-4. 22.

I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.-Ps. civ. 33. cxlvi. 2.

Praise ye the Lord: O give thanks

unto the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever. Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can shew forth all his praise? &c. Then believed they his words; they sang his praise, they soon forgat his works, &c.-Ps. cvi. 1, 2. 12, 13. cxlvii. 1.

O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good, &c. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed, &c. O that men would praise the Lord, &c. let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the loving-kindness of the Lord.-Ps. cvii. 1, 2. 6. 8. 15. 21. 31, 32. 43. cxxxv. 1—5. cxviii. 1, &c.

I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.→ Ps. cxi. 1. lxxxvi. 12.

Praise ye the Lord; praise, O ye servants of the Lord, &c. from the rising of the sun, unto the going down of the same, the Lord's name is to be praised.-Ps. cxiii. 1. 3. cxxxv. 1—3. Ixviii. 32.

Not unto us, O Lord; not unto us: but unto thy name give glory, &e. But we will bless the Lord from this time forth, and for evermore.-Ps. cxv. 1. 18.

I believed, therefore have I spoken. —Ps. cxvi. 10.

At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee, because of thy righteous judgments. Seven times a day do I praise thee, because of thy righteous judgments. -- Ps. cxix. 62. 164.

I will speak of the glorious honour of thy Majesty, and of thy wondrous works; and men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts, and I will declare thy greatness; they shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, &c. Thy saints shall bless thee; they shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; to make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.Ps. cxlv. 1-3.5-7. 10-12.

Praise, &c. for it is good to sing praises unto our God: for it is pleasant and praise is comely, &c. Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: praise thy God, O Zion.-Ps. cxlvii. 1. 12.

The church's song prophesied of, which she shall sing in the day of her glory.-Isa. xii.

Nebuchadnezzar, when his understanding returned to him, blessed and praised God.-Dan. iv. 34. 37.

Christ said unto the man out of whom he had cast devils, Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city, how great things, &c.-Luke viii. 38, 39.

When Christ had healed ten lepers, one of them turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks. And Jesus answering, said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God save this stranger.-Luke xvii. 12. 14-18.

The whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice, and to praise God with a loud voice, for all the mighty works that they had seen; saying, Blessed be the King, that cometh in the name of the Lord, &c. Jesus said, &c. If these should hold

Paul and Silas being in prison, sang praises to God, that the prisoners heard. Acts xvi. 24, 25.

Who shall deliver? I thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.Rom. vii. 24, 25.

O the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments! and his ways past finding out! For, who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counsellor, or who hath first given to him, &c. For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things; to whom be glory for ever, Amen.-Rom. xi. 33-36.

He that eateth, eateth to the Lord; for he giveth God thanks.-Rom. xiv. 6. To God only wise be glory, through Jesus Christ, for ever, Amen.-Rom.

I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you, &c.-1 Cor. i. 4.

I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. -1 Cor. xiv. 15.

The sting of death is sin, &c. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus. - Cor. xv. 56, 57.

forteth us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to, &c. You also helping together, by prayer for us: that for the gifts bestowed upon us by the means of many persons, thanks may be given by many on our behalf. -2 Cor. i. 3, 4. 11.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ; and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.-2 Cor. ii. 14.

We having the same spirit of faith, &c. and therefore speak, &c. All things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might, through the thanksgiving of many, redound to the glory of God.-2 Cor. iv. 13. 15.

Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God: for the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; whilst by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ.2 Cor. ix. 11—13.

God, and our Father; to whom be glory for ever and ever, Amen. They glorified God in me.-Gal. i. 4, 5. 24.

THE DUTY OF BELIEVERS,

tion with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known, &c. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever, Amen.-Phil. iv. 6. 20. We give thanks to God, and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c. Since we heard of your faith, &c. Giving thanks unto the Father, who hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints.-Col. i. 3. 9. 12. 1 Thess. i. 2, 3.

In the faith, &c. abounding therein with thanksgiving.-Col. ii. 7.

Be ye thankful. And whatsoever ye do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: giving thanks to God and the Father by -him.—Col. iii. 15. 17.

Continue in prayer; and watch in the same with thanksgiving.-Col.iv. 2. For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because when ye received the word of God, &c. 1 Thess. ii. 13.

In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.-1 Thess. v. 18.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, &c. who was before Now unto the a blasphemer, &c. King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory, for ever and ever, Amen.-1 Tim. i. 12, 13. 17.

Every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving.-1 Tim. iv. 4. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually; that is, the fruit of our lips; giving thanks (or confessing) to his name, &c.-Heb. xiii. 15. 21. - Ps, cxvi. 17. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms. -James v. 13.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which, according unto his abundant mercy, hath begotten us again unto a lively hope, &c.-1 Pet. i. 8.1

Ye are a chosen generation, &c. that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you, &c.— 1 Pet. ii. 9

Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear-1 Pet. iii. 15.

Worthy is the Lamb which was slain, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing, &c. Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Rev. v. 9. 12, 13. vii. 11, 12.

The four and twenty elders, &c. worshipped God, saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, &c.-Rev. xi. 16, 17.

Fear God, and give glory unto him.-Rev. xiv. 7.

And they sing the song of Moses, &c. saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty, &e. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? For thou only art holy, &c.-Rev. xv. 3, 4.

Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power unto the Lord our God; for true and righteous are his judgments, &c. And again, &c. Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.— Rev. xix. 1, 2. 5. 7.

God appeared unto Isaac the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father, fear not, for I am with thee, &c.-Gen, xxvi. 24.

Moses said to Israel, Fear not; for God is come to prove you, that his fear may be before your faces, &c.-Exod. xx. 20.

If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I, how can I dispossess them? Thou shalt not be afraid of them; but shalt well remember, what the Lord thy God did unto Pharaoh, &c. Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you; a mighty God and terrible, &c.-Deut. vii. 17, 18. 21. xx. 1.

Be strong, and of a good courage; fear not, nor be afraid of them; for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee, he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.-Deut. xxxi. 6. 8. Josh. i. 5-9.

Nehemiah feared not, when the enemy designed to make him afraid, and sin, &c.-Neh. vi. 10, &c.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about. Ps. iii. 6, 7. 2 Chron, xx. 15—17. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.-Ps. iv. 8. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, : &c.-Ps. xxiii. 4.

The Lord is my light, and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? &c. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear, &c.-Ps. xxvii. 1. 3.

God is our refuge, &c. therefore will we not fear though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried, &c.-Ps. xlvi. 1, &c.
