CHAP. XXXVIII.

8 Behold, I will bring again the fhadow of the degrees which is gone down in the fun-dial of Ahaz ten degrees backward. So the fun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been fick, and was recovered of his fickness: 10 I faid, in the cutting off of my days, I fhall go to the gates of the prived of the refidue of my years.

17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness; but thou haft in love to my foul de grave: I am delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast caft all my fins behind thy back.

III faid, I fhall not fee the Lord, even the Lord in the land of the living: I fhall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

12 Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a fhepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining fickness from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

13 I reckoned till morning, that as a lion, fo will he

12 Thou fhalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee fhall be as nothing, and

13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, faying unto thee, Fear not, I will help thee.

14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Ifrael: I will help thee, faith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the holy One of Ifrael.

15 Behold, I will make thee a new fharp threshinginftrument, having teeth: thou fhalt thresh the mountains, and beat them fmall, and fhalt make the hills as chaff.

16 Thou fhalt fan them, and the wind fhall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou fhalt rejoice in the Lord; and fhalt glory in the holy One of Ifrael.

17 When the poor and needy feek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Ifrael will not forfake them.

18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land fprings of water,

19 I will plant in the wildernefs the cedar, the fhittah-tree, and the myrtle, and the oil-tree: I will fet in the

defert the fir-tree, and the pine, and the box-tree together:

20 That they may fee, and know, and confider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done. this, and the holy One of Ifrael hath created it.

21 ¶ Produce your cause, faith the Lord; bring forth your ftrong reafons, faith the King of Jacob.

22 Let them bring them forth, and fhew us what fhall happen: let them shew the former things what they be, that we may confider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be difmayed, and behold it together.

24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the fun fhall he call upon my name, and he shall come up-on princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

CHAP. XLIII. UT now thus faith the Lord that created thee, Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Ifrael, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name,

2 When thou paffeft through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they fhall not overflow thee: when thou walkeft through the fire, thou fhalt not be burnt; neither fhall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the Lord thy

7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him, yea, I have made him.

8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be affembled: who among them can declare this, and fhew us former things? let them bring forth their witnefies, that they may be juftified: or let them hear and fay, It is truth.

10 Ye are my witneffes, faith the Lord, and my fervant whom I have chofen:
