I have exalted one chosen out of the people. With my holy oil have I anointed him : The enemy shall not exact upon him; Nor the son of wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down his foes before his face, But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: And in my name shall his horn be exalted. I will set his hand also in the sea, And his right hand in the rivers. He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, will I keep for him for evermore, And my covenant shall stand fast with him. And walk not in my judgments; If they break my statutes, And keep not my commandments; Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, And their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, 5 ΤΟ 15 20 25 And by thy wrath are we troubled. Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; Who knoweth the power of thine anger? Even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. And let it repent thee concerning thy servants. That we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Wherein thou hast afflicted us, And the years wherein we have seen evil. And thy glory unto their children. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us : And establish thou the work of our hands upon us; Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. PSALM XCI He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust : His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; And ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold And see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, Even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder : The young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: 5 ΤΟ 15 20 25 5 10 I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, And I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. And shew him my salvation. PSALM XCII It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: 15 I will triumph in the works of thy hands. O LORD, how great are thy works! And thy thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; 20 When the wicked spring as the grass, And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. 25 For, lo, thine enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, And mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree : Those that be planted in the house of the LORD They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, 5 ΙΟ 15 Thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, Yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Thy testimonies are very sure: Holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever. 20 25 |
