Blessed be the Lord
Deus Israel : quia God of Israel, because visitavit, et fecit he hath visited and redemptionem plebis wrought the redemption of his people. And hath raised up a horn of salvation to us in the house of David his servant.
Et erexit cornu salutis nobis: in domo David pueri sui.
Sicut locutus est per os sanctorum, qui a sæculo sunt prophetarum ejus :
Salutem ex inimicis nostris, et de manu omnium qui oderunt
Ad faciendam mise- To perform mercy ricordiam cum patri- to our fathers: and bus nostris et me- to remember his holy morari testamenti sui covenant.
As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who are from the beginning:
Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate

In holiness and
justice before him, all our days.

To give knowledge of salvation to his people, unto the remission of their sins:
Through the bowels of the mercy of our God: in which the Orient from on high hath visited us:
To enlighten them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death: to direct our feet in the way of
Eternal rest give
dona ei, Domine, et unto him, O Lord.
lux perpetua luceat And let perpetual light shine upon him. Ant. I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, although he be dead, shall live and every one that liveth and believeth in me, shall not die for ever.
Ant. Ego sum resurrectio et vita: qui credit in me, etiam si mortuus fuerit, vivet: et omnis qui vivit et credit in me, non morietur in æternum.
Let us pray. Then for the living there may be added:
Grant, O Lord, we beseech thee, that whilst we lament the departure of thy servant, we may always remember that we are most certainly to follow him. Give us grace to prepare for that last hour by a good and holy life, that we may not be taken unprepared by sudden death; but may be ever on the watch, that, when Thou shalt call, we may go forth to meet the Bridegroom, and enter with him into glory everlasting. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
On returning from the grave to the Church or Sacristy is recited :
