19 So they two went until they came to Beth-lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth-lehem, that all the city was moved about them; and they said, Is this h Naomi ?

20 And she said unto them, Call me not 4 Naomi, call me 5 Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with

21 I went out full, and the LORD i hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye ine Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barley-harvest. CHAP. II.

AND Naomi had a kinsman m of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was 6 Boaz.

2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean o ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

3 And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.

4 And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, p The LORD be with you. And they r answered him, The LORD bless thee.

5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?

6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab :

7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? 30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said q indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now r the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for thems that honour me I wäl honour, and they that despise t me shall be lightly esteemed.

33 And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart and all the increase of thine house shall die 3 in the flower of their age. 34 And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinchas: in one day they shall die w both of them.

35 Andy I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart, and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine Anointed for ever.

36 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, 4 Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread. CHAP. II.
