DISSERTATIONS ON THE PROPHECIE S. THE eighth prophecy commences Chap ter xlv. verle 1. and is continued to the end of the 15th verse of Chapter xlvi. In this prophecy, the Prophet informs us of the five following important events, that are to take place, at the future restoration of the nation. First, of the enlarged ftate of Jerufalem, and the temple; as in ver. 1-6. "Moreover, when ye shall divide the land by lot for inheritance, ye fhall offer an oblation unto VOL. III. B the the LORD, an holy portion of the land; the length (fhall be) the length of five and twenty thousand (rods), and the breadth ten thousand; this (shall be) holy in all the borders thereof round about. Of this there shall be for the fanctuary five hundred (in length), by five hundred (in breadth), fquare round about; and fifty cubits for the fuburbs thereof round about. And of this measure shalt thou measure the length of five and twenty thousand, and the breadth of ten thousand and therein shall be the fanctuary, (even) the most holy (place). This holy portion of the land shall be for the priests the ministers of the fanctuary, that draw near to minifter unto the LORD; and it shall be a place for their houses, and an holy place for the fanctuary. And five and twenty thousand (in) length, and ten thousand (in) breadth, fhall also be for the Levites the minifters of the houfe, (even) unto them, for a poffeffion (for) twenty chambers.
