A YEAR has passed since we issued our first address. We cannot look upon it as a year of probation. The kind, the cordial reception with which our work was at once welcomed by the assiduous hands and brightening eyes of so many of our fair friends, has made our vocation a holyday duty rather than a

task.

The two-fold character of the work has given us matter of much pleasant memory. It has originated many a Correspondence with minds of vigorous mould and truthful tone-and we seek this occasion to thank them for the interest they have shewn in our undertaking. If we have not in every case, been able to avail ourselves of their kind and generous efforts, it was from the simple reason that we had not room to print all we had sent us. This may have made us, occasionally, appear unjustbut we would not be thought ungrateful. Heartily do we thank all, and hopefully do we look for their future aid.
